Adams sets school mark, Van Buren second at Lady Knights Invite

FOSTORIA – Addyson Adams posted a school-record round and placed second in the medalist standings in leading Van Buren to a second-place finish in the Van Buren Lady Knights Invitational held at the Fostoria Country Club on Tuesday.Adams, a senior, carded a 73 on the 6,527-yard layout, bettering by two strokes the 18-hole school record of 75 she established during the Findlay/Lady Trojan Invitational at Sycamore Springs earlier this season.Lauren Hibbard shot an 88, Andrea Groman a 100 and Peyton Griffin a 103 for Van Buren's 364 team total. Anthony Wayne dominated the 14-school tournament with a score of 336. Van Buren edged Findlay (369) by five strokes for runner-up honors. Bowling Green (384) was fourth and Perrysburg (393) edged Hopewell-Loudon (394) by a stroke for fifth,Findlay bunched its scores well, with Lainey Ricker placing 12th (90), Brynn Wells 13th (91) and Claire White 14th (93). Josey Weihrauch was 19th (95).Mallory Rose (93) led Hopewell-Loudon, followed by Aubrey Cline (96), Megan Boes (98) and Brooke Clouse (107). BOYS GOLFDUBLIN COFFMAN INV.DUBLIN – Findlay High's boys golf team carded its best score of the season on Tuesday, but the Trojans had to settle for seventh place in an elite field of schools at the Dublin Coffman Invitational.Findlay's 310 team total was 11 strokes better than the 321 the Trojans shot in a Sectional Preview event at Sycamore Springs. The top four teams in the tournament all posted scores under 300, including tournament champion Dublin Jerome. A nine-time state champion, Dublin Jerome shot a 289 on the Golf Club of Dublin course. Centerville and New Albany both posted scores of 296 and Bishop Watterson had a 299.Jacob Meier fired a 75, Leo Castellaneta a 76 and Owen Vick a 79 to lead Findlay. Jamie Tate and Reece Stillings both had rounds of 80.
