Sherer shoots 76 for Trojans at Columbian Invite

BOYS GOLF TIFFIN COLUMBIAN INVITATIONAL TIFFIN --- Kellen Sherer had things rolling Thursday at Mohawk Country Club at the Tiffin Columbian Invitational. The golfer from Findlay High School recorded a 76, one stroke behind the tournament winner, Kyle Hepp of the host Tornadoes. Sherer's score led the Trojans to a ninth place finish out of 11 teams. As a team, Findlay scored a 362. Anthony Wayne won the team title with a 316. Also for Findlay, Gavin Wells and Bryce Frost each recorded a 95, with Ari Frost right behind them with a 96. Gabe Sterling (100) and Ashton Holdgreve (103) also competed for the Trojans. Findlay will play in the Moeller Invitational Saturday. GIRLS TENNIS PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg took care of Northern Lakes League foe Findlay Thursday, blanking the Trojans 5-0. At first singles, the Yellow Jackets' Penelope Giammarco topped Findlay's Abigail Russell, 6-1, 6-2. At second singles, Perrysburg's Madi Watkins got past Kendall Beall, 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, Perrysburg's Campbell Looser upended the Trojans' Rosalynn Mayle, 7-6 (3), 6-3. In doubles play, Perrysburg's Ava Geffe and Ellie Pesci knocked off Audrey Schroeder and Willow Wetzel, 6-4, 6-3. At second doubles, Perrysburg's Lillth Dunn and Savannah Borris beat the Trojans' duo of Reese Hagadorn and Maggie Bramel, 6-0, 6-2. The Trojans moved to 1-3, 1-1 in the NLL. Findlay will host Anthony Wayne on Tuesday. GIRLS GOLF ARLINGTON – Josey Weihrauch shot a 45, and all four Findlay scorers were under 50 Thursday atc Sycamore Springs, but it wasn't enough as Sylvania Southview won, 180-191. Brynn Wells recorded a 48 for the Trojans, one stroke better than teammates Lainey Ricker and Claire White, who each recorded a 49. Sydney Sutton, last year's NLL Player or the Year, shot a medal winning 38 for Southview.
