Findlay girls soccer returns seven letterwinners to squad

The 2024 season was one of transition for the Findlay High girls soccer program: new coach, lots of new faces in the lineup.Mike Aubry, who inherited a team that had graduated 13 players when he took over as head coach last season, saw another nine graduate last spring. Part of his plan, though, was to play a lot of people, build depth and experience, and he enters his second season as head coach with several returning letters winners from seniors to juniors to sophomores.Two of Findlay top returnees – senior Olivia Gayhart and sophomore Greta Zaciewski – span those classes. Gayhart was a defensive dynamo for the Trojans, earning first-team all-Buckeye Division honors in all-conference voting by Northern Lakes League coaches.A junior defender, Gayhart came up with 129 intercepts and had 45 blocks during the 2024 regular season. She also had 22 steals while adding three goals and two assists for the Trojans (6-12-1).Zaciewski, a forward, earned second-team all-NLL honors as a freshman.Yasmin Teixeira, a senior midfielder who scored three goals and had three assists, also returns this season, along with senior forward Rayanna Cap (1 goal, 1 assist) and senior defenders Addelyn Sprang (8 steals, 58 intercepts) and Neeti Barot. Sophomore Eve Hansen is also back to lead Findlay's offense, and saw some time in goal for the Trojans.Aubry returns a bit more experience on the defensive side of the pitch. In addition to Gayhart, the Trojans return juniors Noah Tesner (12 steals, 25 intercepts), Elleson Rader (57 intercepts) and Cate Weissling, and sophomores Lainie Clevenger (24 intercepts) and Ava Cooper.Findlay started the 2024 season 2-1-1 before finishing with a a6-12-1 record. The Trojans were solid defensively, allowing just 61 goals in 19 matches, but scored just 35 goals on the offensive end.Graduatuion cost the Trojans a second-team all-league player in midfielder Leah Couch. Also gone are midfielders Ryleigh O'Dell (2 goals, 1 assist), Ellie Beining (1 goal, 1 assist), Molly Ferguson (24 intercepts), Allison Brooks and Kamryn Gearig, forward Daryna Yurchenko, and defenders Anabelle Cooper (31 intercepts) and Olivia Johnson. 2025 GIRLS SOCCER ROSTERSENIORS: Sienna Robinson, Addie Sprang, Yasmin Teixeira, Neeti Barot, Cate Weissling, Olivia Gayhart.
