Perry survives tough second set, sweeps Vanlue

VOLLEYBALL LIMA PERRY 3VANLUE 0CRIDERSVILLE – Lima Perry outlasted Vanlue in a marathon second set in posting a 25-20, 28-26, 25-20 win in Friday's volleyball season opener for both schools.Aubree Higgins led Vanlue with seven kills and Madi Brooks and Candace Saltzman both added five. Higgins and Brooks also had five service points each.Ali Brooks had 15 digs and Adrienne Phillips had 15 assists for the Wildcats, who face Colonel Crawford on Monday in their home opener. GIRLS GOLF TIFFIN COLUMBIAN INVITATIONAL TIFFIN– Upper Sandusky and Carey competed in the Tiffin Columbian Invitational at Clinton Heights Golf Course in Tiffin on Friday.The Invitational was topped by Anthony Wayne, which shot a 380, 40 strokes better than second-place Norwalk. Anthony Wayne's Sophia Stanton medaled with a 78. Upper Sandusky came in 10th place with a 410. The Rams were led by Jillian Stansbery with a 93, Avi Niederkohr with a 103, Alayna Huff with a 104, and Addison Niederkohr with a 110. Carey placed 15th with a 458. Leading the Blue Devils was Mia Kitzler with a 110, followed by Lydia Black with a 112, Lexi Pahl with a 113, and Dakota McKinney with a 123. LEXINGTON ELITE INVITATIONAL ONTARIO– Van Buren shot a 386 as a team on Friday, placing 10th in the Lexington Elite Invitational at Oaktree Golf Club in Ontario.Addyson Adams led the Black Knights with a 78, good enough for eighth overall and a spot on the all-tournament team. Other scorers included Lauren Hibbard with a 94, Peyton Griffin with a 100, and Andrea Groman with a 114. SBC SHOOTOUT TIFFIN – Old Fort edged Hopewell-Loudon 188 to 189 on Friday to win the fourth stage of a Sandusky Bay Conference, River Division shootout held at Clinton Heights Golf Club.Aubrey Cline led Hopewell-Loudon with a round of 45. Brooke Clouse carded a 46 and Mallory Rowe and Megan Boes had 49s.Danbury (194) and Fremont St. Joseph (199) rounded out the top four in the event, one of seven regular season shootouts that will earn points in deciding the 2025 league champion.
