Trojans drop two matches in Strongsville

STRONGSVILLE TRISTRONGSVILLE – Sophomore outside hitter Davinee Harris was 30-of-33 spiking with 13 total kills on Saturday when Findlay High's volleyball team opened its 2025 season in a tri-match at Strongsville.Harris was 17-of-18 spiking with six kills in a 25-13, 25-20 loss to Aurora. She then was 13-of-15 spiking with seven kills in a 25-19, 25-16 loss to Strongsville.Addy Rood was 20-of-24 spiking with six kills in the two matches. Neela Epps and Alexis Cribley added three kills each.Delaney Harris was 45-for-45 setting with 15 assists and Maggie Crates was 33-of-35 setting with 12 assists. Anika Helms (2 aces) led the Trojans with 27 total digs and Stephanie Ragan had 12.Findlay plays its home opener on Tuesday when the Trojans face Fremont Ross in a Northern Lakes League matchup.JUNIOR VARSITY: Aurora 25-25, Findlay 23-18Findlay 25-25, Strongsville 17-18. LEIPSIC 3OTSEGO 0TONTOGANY – Leipsic picked up right where it left off last season, sweeping Otsego 25-14, 25-9, 25-22 in straight sets in Saturday's volleyball season opener for both teams.Two-time Putnam County League Player of the Year Danaysia Danzy pounded 20 kills and had 10 digs and eight ace serves for Leipsic, which went 24-2 last season and reached the Division VII regional semifinals.Kya Brandt (11 digs) added nine kills, Sidney Apple had five and Morgan Valdez and Alyssa Campbell (6 digs) added four each.Karmyn Brough led the Vikings with 39 assists, and Jaelynn Siefer had 16 digs. Emily Brodman added eight kills and 19 digs and McKinnley Kessler (20-20 spiking) had eight kills and 25 assists. VAN BUREN 3C-RAWSON 0VAN BUREN – Brooklyn Wilkin had 11 kills and two blocks and Selma Brandt had seven kills and nine digs in Van Buren's 25-12, 25-14, 25-7 volleyball win over Cory-Rawson.Morgan Walters and Brittyn Wilkin (4 aces) added four kills each in Van Buren's season opener. Lydia Ponn had six ace serves and Lily Grine had five digs. KALIDA 3BLUFFTON 1KALIDA – Kalida rebounded from a first set loss to beat Bluffton 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 in nonleague volleyball action on Saturday.Kendall Stackhouse (2 blocks, 3 aces) led Bluffton with 10 kills, Karlie Lora had eight and Lainey Grandey seven. Adelyn Althaus (4 aces) had 16 assists and Camryn Fruchey had 14. Vanessa Cross led Bluffton with 15 digs. P-GILBOA 3W-GOSHEN 0PANDORA – Ava Huffman had 31 digs and Cora Hovest had 22 assists in leading Pandora-Gilboa to a 25-16, 25-19, 26-24 volleyball win over Waynesfield-Goshen.Corrin Luginbill led P-G at the net with 11 kills. CITY 3ARCADIA 0ARCADIA – Quincy Moenter had nine kills and Savana Niese had eight kills and 10 digs in Miller City's25-8, 25-11, 25-8 volleyball win over Arcadia.Payton Michel had 26 assists, 11 digs and six ace serves for the Wildcats.Ivy Smith led Arcadia with 11 digs and six assists. Lexi Theis and Elyse Boes both had six digs, and Ryleigh Bostic had three kills and four digs.JUNIOR VARSITY: Miller City, 25-15, 25-15 COLUMBIAN 3 H-LOUDON 0 TIFFIN -- Columbian took care of Hopewell-Loudon in three sets Saturday, winning the season opener 24-19, 25-16, 25-18 in Tiffin. Maddie Holcomb delivered 25 digs for the Chieftains, while Savannah Cook added nin digs, five assists and six kills.
