Findlay places 17th at Moeller Invite

BOYS GOLF CIN. MOELLER INV.HAMILTON – Findlay High's boys golf team placed 17th among 20 schools on Saturday in the Cincinnati Moeller Invitational held at Walden Ponds Golf Club.Columbus St. Charles rolled to the team title, outdistancing Cincinnati St. Xavier by 17 strokes. MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TOLEDO – The Mud Hens scored three runs in the first inning, got a two-run homer from Trei Cruz in the second to go up 5-0, and held on from there Sunday, defeating the Columbus Clippers 7-5 at Fifth Third Field. Ryan Kreidler hit a two-run double off Clippers opener Jake Miller in the first inning Sunday, and the Mud Hens added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, leading 7-1 after seven. Randy Dobnak started on the mound for Toledo, and threw five strong innings to pick up the win. He allowed three hits and a run, walking three and striking out four. The Clippers tightened things up in the late innings. Johnathan Rodriguez slammed a two run homer in the eighth, and in the ninth, Travis Bazzana – last years top overall pick in the draft – registered a two-run single to make it 7-5. But Mud Hens pitcher Tanner Rainey was able to stop the rally there. Triston McKenzie, a former standout Guardians starter who was assigned to the Clippers before Sunday's game, threw an inning of relief and allowed an unearned run. In a six-game stretch with the Clippers this week, the Mud Hens went 4-2. They will start another six game series, at Rochester, Tuesday.
