Fostoria board approves 29 hirings

FOSTORIA — The Fostoria Board of Education finalized the hirings of 29 people on Monday, the eve of the start of the 2025-26 school year.Fostoria City Schools opened with a rolling start on Tuesday, with students in grades 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 attending. Those in grades 2, 4, 6 and 9 through 12 were due to attend today, with everyone, including kindergarteners, expected to be present on Thursday.Preschool is scheduled to begin Monday.Certified teachers approved on Monday were Erin Anderson, Joana Hernandez and Isela Reyes. Certified substitute teachers hired were Betsy Clevenger, Leatrice Depp, Jacob Leonard, Brittany Loomis, Linda McAfee, Collin Masterson, Kandra O'Donnell, Kris Sautter, Robin Schumacker, Nichole Seagro, Nancy Stone, Abrianna Swartz and Gabriella Young.Classified paraprofessionals approved were Chana Banks, Sierra Garcia, Lauren Koslosky, Kathy Kurtz and Genee Williams. Nichole Seagro was hired as a classified substitute paraprofessional.Certified teacher Jennifer Smith's retirement was accepted upon her 30 years of employment. Also accepted were the resignation of Aspen Betenson as junior varsity volleyball coach and the resignations of classified paraprofessionals Chloe McMonigal and Aaron Simmons.Supplemental contracts were approved for Mark Bauman, girls strength coach; Cordero Diaz, assistant high school football coach; Jose Munoz Jr., girls tennis coach; Christina Franklin, assistant girls tennis coach; Toni Pullom, junior high cross country coach; and Marian Ortiz and Juan Delgado, co-Spanish Club advisors. Resident educator mentor assignments were given to Margy Brennan Krueger, Nichole Terres, Amy Baxter, Kris Santos, Julie Buckingham, Dawn Skornicka, Amy Stultz, Tammy Dix, Ryan Whipple, Cristy Linhart, Lori Mathia, Kaye Racheter, Ashley Miller, Justin Depinet and Christine Mullens.Advancements on the salary schedule due to additional coursework completed were granted to Angela Beckley, Bradley Bowser, Angela Coopshaw, Jordan Foster, Christina Franklin, Denise Kirchner, Garrett Mintz and Christine Mullens.Also approved were an amendment to the contract of Curriculum Director Tera Matz and a stipend to School Case Worker Tonya Hinke for additional duties as the district's homeless liaison for this school year.The board accepted July 2025 financial statements and a donation of nearly $492 from the Fostoria Parent Lighthouse Team to the Fostoria Elementary School Principal's fund for disc golf, as well as the Oasis Trust dental insurance composite rate at $91.92; a $2,500 agreement with Julian & Grube for the preparation of the Medicaid School Program cost reports for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027.Bus stops for the current school year were accepted, along with a correction to the 2025 preschool handbook, a contract with the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership Program for the current year's preschool program; an agreement between the schools and the city of Fostoria for the use of school resource officers and a memorandum of understanding between the schools and the Fostoria Learning Center for the Jimmy Padanilam Program for special-needs youngsters.
