Firestine has hat trick as Trojans shut out Whitmer

BOYS SOCCER FINDLAY 8WHITMER 0FINDLAY – Freshman Carson Firestine scored three goals to lead a balanced Findlay offense on Tuesday and goalies David Roberts and Jacob Kinn turned away four Whitmer shots in the Trojans' 8-0 Northern Lake League soccer win over the Panthers.Six Findlay players scored goals, with Evan McDaniel, Brayden Worcester, Charlie Ernst, Tyler Worthington and Adam Bascal backing Firestine with one each. Bascal (2) and Worcester also had assists, along with Asher Yu and Britton Elliott.Elliott also had six intercepts and seven steals. Ernst had eight intercepts and three steals, with Roberts and Kinn coming up with two saves each.Findlay (1-0-1) continues a five-game home stand on Saturday when the Trojans face Dublin Scioto in a 1 p.m. match at Elmer Graham Stadium. VOLLEYBALL FREMONT ROSS 3FINDLAY 1FINDLAY – Findlay and Fremont Ross split the first two sets, but the Little Giants pulled away in sets three and four in posting a 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19 win over the Trojans in Northern Lakes League volleyball action at the FHS Gymnasium.Davinee Harris was 21-of-27 spiking with 17 kills, Neela Epps was 11-of-12 spiking with six kills and two aces, and Alexis Cribley was 9-of-13 spiking with four kills.
