Habitat hosts 'Build a Home' Lego contest at fair

FINDLAY — In celebration of its 25th anniversary of serving families in Findlay/Hancock County, Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Hancock County 4-H to host the Build a Home Lego Building Contest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Junior Fair Building during the Hancock County Fair. This free, family-friendly event invites children ages 5-12 to showcase their creativity by building their own Lego "dream homes," participating in one of three shifts: 11 a.m.–noon, noon–1 p.m. and 1–2 p.m. Participation is first-come, first-served with a limit of 25 builders per shift. No registration is required, and Lego sets will be provided. Judged by Habitat staff, prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the top three Lego homes in each of four age categories: ages 5–6, 7–8, 9–10 and 11–12. All winners will receive a Lego boxed set and a medal. First place winners will also receive mini-golf passes to Anchored Sports. Winning houses will be displayed at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore after the event. "This contest is a fun way for families to connect with Habitat's mission and celebrate 25 years of building homes, hope and community," said Wendy McCormick, executive director of Habitat. "We hope this event inspires the next generation of volunteers to see the joy and impact of building community."
