Stechschulte champion as Trojans teams each runner up at Norm Bray Invite

CROSS COUNTRY NORM BRAY INVITEFREMONT – Cam Stechschulte was the individual champion and Findlay High's boys and girls cross country teams both placed second on Saturday in the Norm Bray Invitational hosted by Fremont Ross.A sophomore, Stechschulte posted a winning time of 16:30.80 for the 5,000-meter course. Bowling Green's Sam Wiles was a close second in 16:35.80.Bowling Green won the boys meet with 31 team points. Findlay (52) edged Sylvania Northview (54) for second.Three other Findlay runners landed top-ten placings in the boys meet. Senior Tyler Strabley and junior Russell Stine IV, two of the top runners on last year's team that won a Division I district title and qualified for the regionals, finished seventh (17:08.80) and eighth (17:11.40) respectively. Lucas Parnell, another senior letterman off that team, also ran a strong time and was tenth in 17:17.10.Senior Andrew Custer completed Findlay's scoring by placing 26th (19:07.50 26). Senior Blake Wannemacher (32nd, 19:41.70) and junior Corban Johnson (40th, 20:10.00), rounded out Findlay's lineup in the Trojans' season opening meet.Bowling Green (49 points) also won the girls team title. In a heated race for second, Findlay (73) edged both Rocky River Magnificat (75) and Fremont Ross (75).Toledo Whitmer's Lily Good was the individual winner in 18:40.70. Natalie Gutman, the lone senior on a young FHS girls team, was second in 19:42.80, finishing 36 seconds ahead of Fremont Ross freshman Lily Kiser (20:18.30).Three juniors followed Gutman in Findlay's lineup. Abanna Dotson ran a time of 21:05.30 and was seventh overall, Kayla Moyer (22:06.79) was 19th and Megan Guthrie (22:17.39) placed 22nd. Freshman Isla Crim (22:18.40) finished 23rd, while sophomore Gabby Brankamp was 26th (22:28.40) and freshman Raia Koomen 31st (22:52.70).Findlay – and several area teams – will next compete in the Columbus Grove Invitational this Saturday. KIP KINN INVITEBUCYRUS – Riverdale's Kolten Evans ran his way to an individual championship and Upper Sandusky placed among the top three in both the boys and girls team standings at the Kip Kinn Cross Country Invitational hosted by Colonel Crawford and held in Bucyrus on Saturday. A junior, Evans covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16:45.28. He was the meet's only runner to finish under 17 minutes, and hit the tape almost 30 seconds ahead of Colonel Crawford's Shawn Auck (17:18.13). Riverdale's Gabe Donaldson was 11th (17:52.29).Upper Sandusky' boys team was third (81 points) behind Colonel Crawford (63) and Galion Northmor (77). Riverdale was fifth (127) and Carey eighth (200).Four top 20 placings helped Upper finish third in the boys standings. Henry Minehart (8th, 17:51.15) and Franklin Arnold (10th, 17:52.12) were top-ten placers and Carter Pohlman (16th, 18:04.85) and Andrew Leighty (18th, 18:07.54) were among the top 20 runners.Carey's top placer was Brylon Middleton (31st, 19:07.60).Upper's girls were second (97) behind Northmor (48). Lee completed the race in 15:54.33. Teammate Bryce Hans crossed the finish line in 16:46.23 for 11th place, while L-B's Cohen Levenhagen was 14th in 17:22.32. Coming in right behind him was teammate Lane Fannin, who ran in 17:25.82. Anthony Wayne, which had the top two finishers in the boys race, topped the team standings with 63 points, four points better than runner-up St. Francis. The Generals' Benjamin Gasiorski was the individual champion, running in 15:41.79. Anthony Wayne's Jacob Proctor was second in 15:45.6. Elmwood finished fifth in the boys standings, with 172 points. It was led by Henry Good, who was 18th in 17:32.91. Fostoria was 20th out of 20 teams with 580 points. The Redmen were paced by Jayden Schmitz, who placed 89th (20:41.98). On the girls side, Patrick Henry's Mia Amador finished first, running in 18:55.6. Patick Henry only had four runners so didn't field a full team. Elmwood's Janessa Childress, who took 26th (21:17.64) was the area's next-highest finisher, and she helped the Royals to a 12th-place finish with 365 points. Coming in right behind the Royals was Liberty-Benton, which finished with 375 points. Claire McDaniel ran 21:31.48 to place 32nd and lead the Eagles. Fostoria competed, but only had three runners. TIGER CLASSIC ATTICA – Cory-Rawson's Wyatt Foust finished 11th in the White Division at the Seneca East Invitational in Attica, running in 17:40.66. He was the top area finisher in the race; Hopewell-Loudon got a 17th-place finish from Logan Lust (18:12.99), which helped the Chieftains to a fourth-place finish with 130 points.Old Fort topped the standings in the White Division with 75 points, while New Riegel was runner-up with 88.Cory-Rawson placed ninth as a team, with 238 points. Micah Benedict took 24th in the race for the Hornets, in 18:36.31. Hardin Northern was 11th with 280, while North Baltimore was 13th with 293. The Polar Bears Riley Newton finished in 19:22.41, placing 33rd. The Tigers top finisher was Camden McCartney, who crossed the line in 19:46.75.In the boys Orange Division race, Van Buren took third in the team standings with 90 points, trailing only Mount Gilead (25) and Ottawa Hills (58).For the Black Knights, Carter Finley finished 11th in 17:14.17 and Carter Fry was 13th in 17:14.55.In the girls races, Ottawa-Hills dominated the Orange Division, placing seven of the top eight runners and scoring just 15 points for the team title. Van Buren was fifth with 119 points. The Black Knights were paced by Darby Poling's 19th-place finish. Poling ran in 23:13.In the White Division, two area runners – North Baltimore's Ady Reynolds (6th, 20:35.48) and Cory-Rawson's Libby Kempf (8th, 21:02.83) – finished in the top 10.The Tigers Rylee Fennell placed 24th in 23:18.75, helping North Baltimore to a second-place finish in the team standings, with 101 points.Only host Seneca East (56) was better.Hopewell-Loudon (219) was 10th.
