BOYS SOCCER DUBLIN SCIOTO 6FINDLAY 0FINDLAY – Dublin Scioto raced to a 4-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 6-1 win over Findlay in Saturday's boys soccer match at Elmer Graham Stadium.Carson Firestine scored the lone goal for Findlay. The freshman forward has had at least one goal in each of the Trojans' three games so far this season.Adam Bascal had the assist on Firestine's goal. Charlie Ernst and Zion Ortiz led the Trojans defensively, Ernst with eight intercepts and four steals and Ortiz with five intercepts and eight steals. Goalies David Robert (13) and Jacob Kinn (3) combined for 16 saves.Dublin Scioto, coming off a 14-6-2 season that saw the Irish reach the Division regional finals, improved to 2-0 with Saturday's win.Findlay faces another major test this week when the Trojans host Perrysburg in a Northern Lakes League matchup. Both teams are 1-1-1 overall. Findlay is 1-0-0 in league game; Perrysburg is 0-0-1. Van Buren's record fell to 0-3. GIRLS SOCCER FINDLAY 2LOUISVILLE 1LOUISVILLE – Junior defender Elleson Rader came up with 14 intercepts and assisted on a goal as well in Findlay's 2-1 girls soccer win over Louisville on Saturday.Olivia Gayhart and Elynn Hawkins had the goals and Ella Kreyger and Rader the assists as Findlay won its second straight match and improved to 2-1-0 heading into Wednesday's Northern Lakes League contest at Perrysburg (3-0-0).Defensively against Louisville, Emme Patey had nine intercepts, two steals and two blocks and Ava Cooper had four intercepts, three steals and a block. GROVE 0OTTAWA – Karsyn Erford punched in two goals and Libbie Niese pitched a shutout in goal in Ottawa-Glandorf's 2-0 girls soccer win over Columbus Grove.Delaney Duling and Liv Grothause had assists for O-G, Ohio's Division III state runner-up the past four seasons. Niese made three saves as the Titans, after season-opening losses to Anthony Wayne and Perrysburg, earned their first win of 2025. Columbus Grove (0-1-1) got 11 saves from Erianne Heffner. RIVERDALE 2CONTINENTAL 2MOUNT BLANCHARD – Riverdale overcame a one-goal deficit in the first half and lost a one-goal edge in the second in posting a 2-2 girls soccer tie with Continental.Riverdale built its 2-0 lead on first half goals by Mackenzie Niese and Morgan Dockery. SANDUSKY 2UPPER SANDUSKY – Kenton scored three second-half goals to overturn a 2-0 deficit and beat Upper Sandusky 3-2.Ellie Minter's second goal with 6:03 left in the match won it for Kenton (1-2-1). Shiloh Shasteen and Norah McClain scored goals and Carly Boes made eight saves in goal for Upper (0-3). TENNIS FINDLAY 4DEFIANCE 1FINDLAY – Findlay took four of the five matches in straight sets in chalking up a 4-1 girls tennis win over Defiance on Saturday.Abi Russell won a close first set in beating Addie Becher 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Kendall Beall took the No. 2 singles match by a 6-0, 6-1 count over Lily Delany. Defiance's lone win came at No. 3 single where Camy Ulaszewski outlasted Findlay's Mary Williams, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.In doubles, Adeline Collins and Tailee Phiengthirath (No. 1) defeated Natalie Kost and Melody Haase 6-2, 6-0, and Bella Woltz and Alex Smith (No. 2) scored a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Morgan Brown and Haylin Smith.The win was Findlay's second straight. The Trojans, 3-4 overall, will be gunning for a third straight win on Tuesday when they travel to Bowling Green for a Northern Lakes League match.
