Recycling guidance offered

FINDLAY — The Hancock County commissioners are asking residents to recycle responsibly and not overuse recycling sites during the Labor Day holiday weekend. "Holiday weekends create an added challenge for the recycling program due to the fact that our contracted recycling company (Rumpke Waste & Recycling) does not provide service on a Monday holiday," the commissioners said. "Thus, our collection schedule the week of the holiday gets postponed by one day for each site." So, in locations where recyclables unloaded by residents over the weekend would normally be picked up by Rumpke on Monday morning, the pickup is delayed following the holiday weekend to Tuesday morning. The commissioners offered some suggestions to residents who recycle: • Refer to the recently updated collection schedule on the recycling page of the commissioners' website: co.hancock.oh.us/DocumentCenter/View/1114/SITE- Recycling-location-MAP-?bidId=. • Everyone, especially Findlay residents, are encouraged to use the recycling station closest to your home rather than travel across town to use the Recycling Hub (the former Litter Landing site) on East Sandusky Street. • Whenever possible, drop off your recyclables during weekdays. Bins are typically full after a weekend. • Be responsible. Only recycle what is listed on the bins. To enable more people to use the limited recycling space, collapse your cardboard. • Don't leave items on the ground. The locations do not have staff on site to clean up.
