Need lower-income housing In the Aug. 29 edition of The Courier, again outvoted city councilwoman Holly Frische continues to object to anything positive happening in our city — this time it's a proposed multi-family housing development on Sheridan Avenue. Frische stated that she "feels misled" by the developer since in her opinion there's already "enough low-income housing." So does that mean that she would only approve high-income housing? Findlay needs lower-income housing desperately and now that somebody wants to bring us some, she has a fit. We complain about too much homelessness and how high rent is here, so this would be a step in the right direction. Location to possible employment opportunities is a plus, especially for those lacking transportation. How about tackling issues that affect lower-income people? Several newer developments have apartments that rent for nearly $1,500 upwards. Not everyone in Findlay earns a six-figure salary with benefits. Many so-called Christians don't seem to follow Christ's teachings these days. We are supposed to help those in need. Deuteronomy 15:11, states: "Therefore I command you: Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land." Is there no end to this councilwoman's negativity and spite toward those who are willing to fulfill the obvious needs of our poorer constituents? Looking forward to a new perspective and attitude in the newly-elected councilwoman Nichole Coleman, who will replace Frische. Salena Maazaoui Findlay
