Trojans forge 1-1 tie with No. 1-ranked Generals

FINDLAY &emsp;&emsp;1 AN. WAYNE 1 WHITEHOUSE – It wasn't a win. But it wasn't a loss, and that was a victory in itself for Findlay High's girls soccer team. Anthony Wayne scored a first half goal in Wednesday's Northern Lakes League matchup. But Findlay matched that goal, and shut the Generals down the rest of the way in forging a 1-1 tie with the unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Generals. Sophomore forwards Ray Cap and Greta Zaciewski teamed up for Findlay offensively, with Cap scoring off an assist from Zaciewski. The goal was the first Anthony Wayne has allowed in six matches this season. Findlay's defense then stood tall, with senior goalie Addie Sprang making 15 saves and senior defender Olivia Gayhart coming up with 15 blocks and 13 intercepts. Also defensively, Ava Cooper had three steals, three intercepts and two blocks, Emme Patey had six intercepts and three blocks and Elleson Rader had four intercepts and four blocks. Yasmin Teixeira had three intercepts and Noah Tesner had two for the Trojans, 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in NLL matches. Anthony Wayne remained unbeaten, but is 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the NLL. L-BENTON &emsp;&emsp;4 BLUFFTON &emsp;&emsp;1 FINDLAY – Liberty-Benton's Isabelle Miller scored her first goal 11 minutes into the match and her second with about 11 minutes left in leading the Eagles to a 4-1 win over Bluffton. Ally Ferris (2 assists) and Emma Lieb also scored for L-B, which led 3-0 at the half in upping its record to 3-2-1. Bluffton's Aubrey Burkholder scored in the 74th minute for the lone goal by the Pirates (2-3-0). RIVERDALE 1 U. SANDUSKY 1 MOUNT BLANCHARD – Riverdale and Upper Sandusky scored the only goals of the match in a 70-second span late in the first half and finished with a 1-1 girls soccer draw on Wednesday. Paige Vent put Riverdale on the board with 6:15 left in the first half. Upper's Norah McClain scored the equalizer at the 5:08 mark. Riverdale (1-2-2) had a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. Raya Reddick made four saves for the Falcons. Carly Boes had eight saves for Upper Sandusky (2-3-1). BOYS SOCCER U. SANDUSKY 6 RIVERDALE 2 MOUNT BLANCHARD – Kobe Beidelschies scored three goals and assisted on another in powering Upper Sandusky to a 6-2 boys soccer win over Riverdale. Cooper Roof and Caleb Arter added a goal and an assist each in the North Central Ohio Soccer Association matchup. Troy Hoffbauer made four saves in goal for the Rams (6-2, 1-0 NCOSA), who had a huge 28-4 advantage in shots on goal. Adrian Altvater and Landon Elwood scored goals for Riverdale (2-3-0, 0-1 NCOSA). Falcons keeper Reydon Bishop stopped 22 shots. GOLF FINDLAY &emsp;&emsp;164 NORTHVIEW 164 OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. – Lydia Cleland, the No. 5 golfer in Findlay's lineup, carded a 43 for the tie-breaking score in the Trojans win over Sylvania Northview in a Northern Lakes League girls golf match played at the Whiteford Valley Golf Club. Both teams posted rounds of 164, with Cleland's fifth-person score breaking the deadlock and keeping Findlay, 3-0 in NLL matches, unbeaten in league play. Lainey Ricker led Findlay with a 39. Brynn Wells carded a 40, Claire White a 42 and Josey Weihrauch a 43. Northview's Katelyn Feldman was the match medalist with a 33. NORTHVIEW 159 FINDLAY &emsp;&emsp;173 FINDLAY – In a 159 to 173 varsity golf loss to Sylvania Northview, Owen Vick and Greyson Cramer led Findlay with rounds of 42. (14-sub head) Imber scores ace FOSTORIA – Findlay's Mike Imber scored a hole-in-one at Loudon Meadows Golf Course on Tuesday, acing the 155-yard 15th hole with a 6-iron.
