FINDLAY — The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation is hosting its annual Fall Model Train Show this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 12505 County Road 99, in Findlay. Since 1998, NWORRP has been a nonprofit corporation working to preserve, promote and educate the history of railroads in Northwest Ohio. The Fall Model Train Show continues this mission by bringing together families and collectors, inspiring the next generation of train enthusiasts. "It's pretty popular because a lot of vendors come in and display their model train stuff for sale," show coordinator Mike Schroeder said. This year's show will feature around 20 vendors offering multiple tables of railroad memorabilia and model trains with a variety of gauges, from HO to O scale. Attendees can also see NWORRP's own operating model train displays, browse the gift shop and enjoy a snack bar. Unlike most model train shows, NWORRP gives guests the chance to ride actual trains. Both the quarter-scale 901 steam engine and the Riverside train will be running throughout the day, with rides costing $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Admission to the Fall Model Train Show is $5 for adults, while children 12 and under with an adult are admitted free. The NWORRP is currently seeking new members to join the organization. "If anybody wants to join, it's $20 for a year," Schroeder said. "We could use carpenters, boilermakers and electricians. If they want to join, they can come out and talk to us on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. at NWORRP." Next Saturday, NWORRP will partner with the Children's Museum of Findlay for Touch-a-Truck day, with free admission sponsored by The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation.
