Choose your own adventure at the library

Adventures to the past await at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library this September! You can join us for a live action spin on a nostalgic computer game, test your knowledge of the past in our decades themed trivia contest or attend an author event with David Fierst to learn more about Native American history. Whatever path to the past you choose, the library is here to be your gateway to knowledge and adventure. For lovers of the classic game Oregon Trail, experience it in a whole new way with our live action choose-your-own-adventure twist! Drop in any time from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 to pick up your map and start your journey. Visitors will set out from Independence, Missouri and make their way to stops posted around the library like Chimney Rock, Fort Laramie, Fort Boise and the Blue Mountains. At each stop, players will be faced with a decision that will determine their next steps. Be careful though! Whatever you choose could mean life or death! If a test of knowledge is more your speed, try out our decades themed trivia night from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the Frost-Kalnow Room. Compete with your friends against other teams with questions from the 80s, 90s, 2010s, and 2020s, and special name-that-tune sections from the 70s and 2000s. You can register a team of up to six people by calling the library at 419-447-3751. Each member of the winning team will receive their own commemorative T-SPL trivia night trophy. Refreshments will also be provided, so grab some popcorn and get ready for some trivia fun! For those interested in learning more about the past and how it impacts the present, join us for a presentation from Ohio attorney David Fierst at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. Fierst's book, "Hidden Disgrace: Revealing the Distress Signals Covered by North American Indian Myths" is a result of his visit to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and his attempt to understand the history behind the living conditions there. Copies of Hidden Disgrace will be available to purchase at the event. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for some retro fun, there's something for everyone to explore this fall at the library.
