Gayhart's goal sends Findlay over O-G

GIRLS SOCCER FINDLAY 1O-GLANDORF 0FINDLAY – Three days after forging a 1-1 tie with state-ranked Anthony Wayne in a Northern Lakes League matchup, Findlay High's girls soccer team achieved another pivotal win when the Trojans posted a 1-0 decision over Ottawa-Glandorf in Saturday's game at Elmer Graham Stadium.Eylnn Hawkins assisted on Olivia Gayhart's goal with 3:45 left in the first half and Findlay's defense made that one goal stand up for the win. Addie Sprang made nine saves in goal for the Trojans, while Gayhart, Elleson Rader and Emme Patey all registered three blocks. Ava Cooper and Yasmin Teixeira each had two steals for FHS, and Patey and Rader recorded nine intercepts each. Gayart had sevenSaturday's win was Findlay's first since Oct. 5 of 2020 over a strong O-G program that has been state runner-up the past four years. It was also the first goal the Trojans have scored against the Titans over that span.Unbeaten in its last three games (2-0-1), Findlay will take a 4-2-1 overall record on the road Wednesday when the Trojans battle Sylvania Northview (4-1-1) in NLL matchup. GREEN 2BOWLING GREEN – Bluffton scored three times in a four-minute span in beating Bowling Green 3-2 in Saturday's girls soccer contest.Bowling Green led 2-0, but Aubrey Burkholder scored in the 34th minute, Maelee Miller connected three minutes later, and Burkholder scored what turned out to be the game-winner a minute after that.Burkholder also had an assist for Bluffton (3-4-0). Kynzie Ewing made nine saves in goal. U. SANDUSKY 3ROSSFORD 1UPPER SANDUSKY – Shiloh Shasteen scored two goals and Carly Boes made four saves in goal in Upper Sandusky's 3-1 win over Rossford.Erica Ruhlen scored Upper's first goal and added an assist as the Rams (3-3-1) handed Rossford (6-2) just its second setback in eight games. ADA 3SPENCERVILLE 0ADA – Kenley Poling scored all three Ada goals in the Bulldogs 3-0 soccer win over Spencerville.Emily Shanks had two assists and goalie Emily Gibson made five saves for Ada, which has outscored its opponents 44-3 in compiling a 7-1-0 record. MAN. CHRISTIAN 9 RIVERDALE 0 MANSFIELD -- Brooklyn Rider, Reese Bechtler and Ryan Anderson had two goals each, and Mansfield Christian blanked Riverdale, 9-0. Anderson also had three assists in the win. Riverdale had 12 shots, one on goal. Goalkeeper Raya Reddick made three saves. BOYS SOCCER U. SANDUSKY 10ROSSFORD 0UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky's Caleb Arter and Cooper Roof both scored their 12th goals of the season in leading the Rams to a 10-1 romp over Rossford on Saturday.Arter scored four goals and Roof had three as Upper won its fourth straight match and climbed to 6-2 on the season heading into Thursday's game at Liberty-Benton (5-1-1). Josh Walton scored two goals and Jonathan Craig had four assists. ARCHBOLD 1BLUFFTON 0BLUFFTON – Archbold managed just one goal against Bluffton on Saturday but that was just enough for the 5-1 Blue Streaks to claim a 1-0 win over the Pirates. Bluffton dipped to 2-4-2 with the loss. MANS. CHRISTIAN 6RIVERDALE 1MANSFIELD – Both teams entered the match with identical 2-3-0 records, but Mansfield Christian, a prep soccer power that was state runner-up in 2013 and state champion a year later, dominated in a 6-1 win over Riverdale.Mansfield Christian led 4-0 at the half. Cameron Snook scored a second-half goal and Reydon Bishop made 13 saves for the Falcons, who were outshot 19-5.
