Wyandot patrol post wins Battle of the Badges

UPPER SANDUSKY — Law enforcement and first responders from across Wyandot County came together to compete in the 2025 Battle of the Badges, held at Harrison Smith Park Saturday. Five teams including Upper Sandusky Police and Fire departments, Carey Police and Fire departments, Wyandot County Sheriff's Office, the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Mohawk Fire and Rescue competed in a softball tournament to determine the champion. The Patrol came out on top after a hard won battle, followed by Upper Sandusky Police in second and the Wyandot County Sheriff in third. Mohawk EMS and Fire battled it out with Carey Police and Fire with Carey ending the tournament in fifth place. "It was a lot of fun," Wyandot County Sheriff Todd Frey said of the event, also saying he enjoyed seeing the community come out to raise money for charity. "The patrol gave us a run for our money," said Upper Sandusky Police Chief Jared Lucas after moving on to the semifinal team. Lucas said he couldn't stop saying how grateful he was for all of the volunteers that helped out.
