Trojans tie Northview; L-B blanks Rams

FINDLAY 2 NORTHVIEW 2 SYLVANIA – Findlay High's girls soccer team continued its solid play on Wednesday, rallying from a 2-1 halftime deficit to forge a 2-2 tie with Sylvania Northview in a Northern Lakes League match on the Wildcats' home turf. Unbeaten in its last four games (2-0-2), including a 1-1 tie with state-ranked Anthony Wayne and 1-0 win over Ottawa-Glandorf, Findlay is 4-2-2 overall. Northview is 4-1-2 after the tie. L-BENTON &emsp;&emsp;4 U. SANDUSKY 0 FINDLAY – Liberty-Benton's Kylie Modd scored two goals and assisted on another on Wednesday in leading the Eagles to a 4-1 girls soccer win over Upper Sandusky. Modd got the assist on a goal by Liz Niese 7:30 into the match. The junior midfielder then scored one goal off an assist from Addi Tiell and another from Ally Ferris to put L-B up 3-0 at the half. Channing Cupples goal with 2:14 left in the game completed the scoring in the North Central Ohio Soccer Association opener. Liberty-Benton had a huge 25-1 advantage in total shots and 14-1 margin in shots on goal. Rylie Grant made one save for L-B; Upper Sandusky goalie Carly Boes had 10 for the Rams (3-4-1). Unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1), Liberty-Benton improved to 5-2-2 heading into Saturday's game at Clear Fork (6-1-2). The Eagles will host Toledo St. Ursula (3-1-2) on Monday, then face Ada (9-1-1) in a key NCOSA matchup on Wednesday. VOLLEYBALL LEIPSIC &emsp;&emsp;3 ARCADIA &emsp;&emsp;0 ARCADIA – Leipsic's Danaysia Danzy, the reigning Blanchard Valley Conference Player of the Year, pounded 21 kills, Kya Brandt had 10 and Morgan Valdez added seven as the unbeaten Vikings, ranked the No. 2 Division VII team in the state, rolled to a 25-13, 25-17, 25-13 win over Arcadia on Wednesday. Karmyn Brough led Leipsic, 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the BVC, with 40 assists. Jaelynn Siefer had 10 digs, Brough seven and Karly Garcia six. Ryleigh Bostic had seven kills and seven digs and Addy Colman had five kills, two blocks and two aces for Arcadia (2-5, 0-3 BVC). Ivy Smith led the Redskins with 20 assists and Lexi Theis had 15 digs. JUNIOR VARSITY: Leipsic 25-19, 25-10. VAN BUREN 3 RIVERDALE 1 VAN BUREN – Brooklyn Wilkin and Selma Brandt combined for 41 kills and eight ace serves in leading Van Buren to a 25-10, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16 BVC win over Riverdale. Wilkin (2 blocks) had 22 kills and four aces and Brant had 19 kills, 11 digs and four aces. Brittyn Wilkin had four kills and seven digs, Maggie Gunder had three kills and Lily Grine had nine digs. Lydia Ponn led the Black Knights (9-2, 2-1 BVC) with 41 assists and stacked her stat line with seven digs, two kills and three blocks. Shayla Newfer and Dylann Thacker were both 13-of-15 serving, Paige Courtad and Carly Karcher were 8-for-9 and all had one service ace for Riverdale (5-4, 0-3 BVC). P-GILBOA &emsp;&emsp;3 ARLINGTON 0 PANDORA – Corrin Luginbill hammered 13 kills and Nevaeha Alvarado and Kelsie Carlson added seven each in Pandora-Gilboa's 25-15, 25-13, 25-20 BVC volleyball win over Arlington. Carlson added seven digs and five ace serves as P-G (6-2, 3-0 BVC) remained unbeaten in BVC matches. Cora Hovest led the Rockets with 30 assists and Ava Huffman (3 aces) had 19 digs. Callie Hartman paced Arlington with eight kills and Mea Alexander had a team-high 18 digs. Ellie Marquart doubled up in both assists (19) and digs (13) for the Red Devils (5-6, 1-1 BVC). JUNIOR VARSITY: Arlington, 25-19, 25-23 ADA &emsp;&emsp;3 MCCOMB &emsp;&emsp;1 ADA – Ada won the first two sets and rode the momentum of that fast start to a 25-20, 25-16, 23-25, 25-13 volleyball win over McComb. Ada, which notched its third straight win to climb to 10-1 overall, 2-1 in the BVC, got strong play at the net from Anna Conley, Brook Andreasen, Dailah Preston and Tea Griffith. Conley (7 digs) had 10 kills, Andreasen had nine, Preston had five and Griffith (12 assists) four. Griffith (8), Andreasen (8) and Preston (5) also combined for 21 blocks. Alyssa Madison had 23 digs, Alivia Gibson (3 kills) had 14 and Jaylin St. Laurent had eight digs and 16 assists. Morgan Kern led McComb with 13 kills and Addisen Krassow (5 digs) had nine. Claire Bryan led the Panthers (5-4, 0-3 BVC) with 18 assists. Kern also had a team-high 20 digs, with Bryan adding 14 and Alyvia Shaheen 11. Candace Saltzman had five kills and Riley Holbrook and Aubree Higgins added three each for a shorthanded Vanlue team missing two starters. Adrienne Phillips (12 assists), Phoenix Heuerman and Allison Brooks all had six digs for the Wildcats (1-7, 0-2 BVC).
