Wells seventh, FHS third at NLL meet

GOLF NLL GIRLS GOLF BOWLING GREEN – Findlay freshman Brynn Wells was seventh in the overall medalist rankings and earned first-team all-league honors in leading the Trojans to a third place finish on Monday in the Northern Lakes League's Buckeye Division girls golf championship at Riverby Hills Golf Club.Wells carded a 90 on Monday. Josey Weihrauch was eighth overall with a 91 and Lainey Ricker was 11th after shooting a 93. Both were second-team all-NLL.Claire White's 97 completed Findlay's 371 team total. Lydia Cleland (115) and Alaina Lenhart (141) rounded out Findlay's lineup in the tournament.Anthony Wayne dominated in winning a second straight Buckeye Division girls title. The Generals, who handed Findlay its lone NLL loss to four head-to-head regular season league matches, posted a 342 team score on Monday. Sylvania Northview (358) was second, Findlay, with no seniors on a young roster, edged Perrysburg (377) for third and Toledo Whitmer was fifth (411). Northview's Katelyn Feldmann, Monday's tournament medalist with a 72, was the NLL Buckeye Division Player of the Year.The NLL Cardinal Division went right to the wire. Bowling Green, Oregon Clay and Sylvania Southview all went 4-1 in regular-season play. Southview won the 2025 title by winning Monday's Cardinal Division tournament, firing a 380 team score. Clay (405) nipped Bowling Green (406) by one stroke for second, with Napoleon (409) a close fourth.Findlay's boys golf team will now have its shot at an NLL title when the Trojans compete Wednesday in the NLL Buckeye Division tournament at Eagles Landing Golf Club in Oregon.Both FHS teams will move on to OHSAA Division I tournament play next week at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington, with the girls sectional on Monday and the boys sectional on Wednesday. Brookanne Busch made 10 saves in goal for the Black Knights. KALIDA 2RIVERDALE 1KALIDA – Riverdale had more shots on goal, but Kalida managed to edge the Falcons, 2-1.Mallory Kerner and Nataly Calvalege each found the back of the net for the Wildcats, while Riverdale's goal was scored by Bristel Cramner.Riverdale (2-4-3) outshot Kalida 11-8.Sophia Fersch made nine saves in goal for the Wildcats.Falcons goalkeeper Ryleigh Howard made five saves.Kalida improved to 3-4-1.
