L-B holds off Panthers in marathon BVC match

L-BENTON &emsp;&emsp;3 MCCOMB &emsp;&emsp;2 MCCOMB – Liberty-Benton and McComb battled back and forth in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball marathon on Wednesday. L-B scratched out a two-point edge in the fifth set, though, in getting past the Panthers 25-21, 24-26, 25-19, 23-25, 15-13. Corra Dehart was 29-of-31 spiking with 21 kills and three blocks. Emelia Kin (4 blocks) and Sadie Barnes (11 digs) had 12 kills each and Elise Brzezinski (3 blocks) had eight. L-B's Maddy Amstutz had a milestone-achieving night, coming up with 30 digs to raise her career total to 1,014. Ally Hocanson led L-B with 41 assists and had 17 digs. Evelyn Ricker added 11 digs for the Eagles, who are 10-2 overall and state-ranked in Division V. The win moved L-B to 4-0 in the BVC, half a game back of Leipsic (13-0, 5-0 BVC). The two teams square off Sept. 29 at Liberty-Benton. McComb evened off at 6-6 overall, with five of its six losses coming in BVC play. Morgan Kern led the Panthers with 16 kills and 30 digs. Addisen Krassow (7 digs, 2 aces) had 19 kills and Journey Scheff had six. Shelby Hassan had 23 assists, six digs and five aces. JUNIOR VARSITY: Liberty-Benton, 25-18, 25-21 P-GILBOA &emsp;&emsp;3 VAN BUREN 0 PANDORA – Pandora-Gilboa rebounded from Monday's BVC loss to Leipsic with a straight-set 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 win over Van Buren. Corrin Luginbill pounded 14 kills and served up three aces for P-G (9-3, 4-1 BVC). Nevaeha Alvarado added nine kills and Kelsie Carlson had three. Cora Hovest had a team-high 26 assists, while Ava Huffman had 15 digs, Annabelle Benton seven and Laira Parkins six. Brooklyn Wilkin had 16 kills and 14 digs and Selma Brant had 10 kills and 16 digs for Van Buren (10-3, 3-2 BVC). Lydia Ponn led the Black Knights with 26 assists and Lily Grine had eight digs. JUNIOR VARSITY: Pandora-Gilboa, 25-21, 25-22. ARLINGTON 3 ADA &emsp;&emsp;1 ARLINGTON – Arlington broke a 1-1 tie with an overtime win in the third set and outlasted Ada 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21 in a BVC volleyball match. Callie Hartman had a career-high 23 kills for Arlington (7-7, 2-2 BVC). Ellie Marquart had 29 assists and 13 digs, with Mea Alexander adding 15 digs and Maddie Hartman and Allie Settlage 11 each. Anna Conley (7 digs) led Ada, 10-3 overall, 2-3 in BVC play, with nine kills, Dailah Preston (4 blocks) had eight, Brook Andreasen six, and Alivia Gibson (6 digs, 3 aces) and Alainee Buxton four each. Alyssa Madison led the Bulldogs with 23 digs, and Téa Griffith and Jaylin St. Laurent (8 digs) both had 16 assists. JUNIOR VARSITY: Arlington 25-13, 25-19. ARCADIA &emsp;&emsp;3 RIVERDALE 0 MOUNT BLANCHARD – Ryleigh Bostic had nine kills and five digs and Addy Colman added seven kills and four ace serves in Arcadia's 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 win over Riverdale. Ivy Smith had a team-high 21 assists and Elyse Boes had seven digs for Arcadia (5-7, 2-3 BVC). Riverdale's Shayla Newfer and Leah Miller were both 12-of-13 serving with two aces for the Falcons (5-6). JUNIOR VARSITY: Riverdale 12-25, 25–22, 25-21. LEIPSIC &emsp;&emsp;3 VANLUE &emsp;&emsp;0 LEPSIC – State-ranked Leipsic dominated from the opening serve in rolling to a 25-3, 25-3, 25-6 win over Vanlue in Wednesday's Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match. Danaysia Danzy collected 14 kills, Kya Brandt had four and Meredith Goodwin and Sidney Apple (3 aces) had three each. Karmyn Brough had 21 assists, Jaelynn Siefer contributed five digs and Ryleigh Newell served up eight aces for the No. 2-ranked Vikings, who are 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the BVC. Adrienne Phillips had two assists, two digs, an ace and a kill for Vanlue (1-9, 0-4 BVC). Madison Brooks had a team-leading two kills. JUNIOR VARSITY: Leipsic, 2-0. FINDLAY VOLLEYBALL In Findlay's NLL volleyball loss to Sylvania Northview on Tuesday, Davinee Harris had 14 kills and seven digs, Maggie Crates had five kills and 11 digs, and Lauren Heydinger had three kills and two blocks. Delaney Harris (2 aces) had 13 digs and Anika Helms had eight digs and 23 assists. Stats of the game were unavailable by Tuesday's deadline.
