UF announces engineering pathway

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay is collaborating with Ohio Northern University and Wright State University to offer a new engineering pathway program for students. The 2+2 engineering pathway program is designed for students to enroll for two years at the University of Findlay with the intention to transfer to either Ohio Northern University or Wright State University for an additional two years to complete their engineering degree. "We are always looking for innovative ways to offer students who are interested in the University of Findlay with exceptional access to academics and our new 2+2 engineering pathway provides more options for those interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields," vice president of enrollment and marketing Nikki Hintze said in a release from the university. While attending UF, students can choose their pathway, with either a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering at ONU or a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Wright State University. Eligible students must enter their first semester at UF as a chemistry or mathematics-applied emphasis for engineering science major while simultaneously applying for entry to the 2+2 engineering transfer pathway for their chosen university. Students accepted into UF's program will be provided with a specialized degree plan to follow with advisors at both institutions and concurrent enrollment before transferring to their selected institution and program for completion. Students participating in the ONU pathway can take one class each of their first two years while also attending Findlay for a more smooth transfer, with Wright State University's pathway offering additional engineering opportunities at the Master's and doctoral levels. "When our students express interest in engineering, this new pathway provides them with greater access to faculty, facilities, and learning experiences, and they will benefit from the ease of transferability and the advantages both institutions offer," Lok Lew Yan Voon, dean of the College of Sciences, said in the release.
