UF hosting health and wellness fair this week FINDLAY — The University of Findlay is hosting a health and wellness fair Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Koehler Fitness Complex. With 35 different vendors scheduled for the event, members of the UF campus community can explore a range of information and educational health displays. Health professionals will be at the event to perform health screenings and provide information on blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, body mass index (BMI) and HIV testing. Guests can enjoy a variety of healthy snacks, a free chair massage (in limited number), an inflatable lung, exercise demonstrations (at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and noon), body detox information and more. Flu shots will also be available to UF students, with the first 200 recipients receiving a swag bag. UF faculty and staff may purchase a flu shot for $25, cash or check only. Associated Charities opens grant applications FINDLAY — Associated Charities of Hancock County has opened its grant application program for nonprofit agencies in Hancock County. The grants are focused on helping underfunded programs that serve the emergency needs of the local community. Existing, expanding and new programs which meet grant criteria are eligible. The group was established in 1914 with a mission to provide emergency, temporary financial assistance to Hancock County residents who meet the agency's guidelines. FHS Class of 1980 plans 45th reunion FINDLAY — Findlay High School Class of 1980 will start its 45th reunion weekend celebration with a tailgate party at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at 230 Mound St. Attendees will then attend the Findlay High School football game with tickets purchased at the gate. Look for the balloon roped off area in the stadium. Festivities continue Oct. 18 with a Taste of Findlay at the Findlay Moose Lodge, 1028 W. Main Cross St. Casual attire is requested A mix and mingle starts at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. Cost is $20. Reservations are required. Classmates are asked to pass this information on to others who have not heard about the reunion. Reineke launches 'Fill the Ford' food drive FINDLAY — Reineke Family Dealerships is partnering with Ford Motor Company for a "Fill the Ford" Food Drive during Global Caring Month, helping fight hunger locally. Through Thursday, Reineke Ford stores in Findlay, Fostoria, Tiffin and Lima are collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items to fill a new Ford vehicle. Donation bins are available in the dealership showrooms as well as select grocery store locations. This year, the dealership has set a collective goal of 2,000 pounds of food across all locations. Half of each store's donations will benefit the West Ohio Food Bank, with the other half to be put towards local Reineke partners: Sharing Kitchen of Fostoria, St. Paul's UMC Sharing Kitchen in Tiffin, the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio in Lima and the City Mission of Findlay. Donations can be brought to Reineke Ford showrooms in Fostoria, Tiffin, Lima and Findlay as well as participating grocery stores. Millstream Astronomy Club hosting public stargazing FINDLAY — Millstream Astronomy Club is hosting a free public observing event on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Riverbend Park, Shelter House #3. The evening will kick off with presentations led by Kathryn Rider on "The Star of Bethlehem" and "The Lady in the Moon." Following the presentations, guests are welcome to bring their telescopes or look through the club's equipment for a shared view of the night sky. Trinity Lutheran hosting chili cook-off JENERA — Trinity Lutheran Church is hosting a chili cook-off on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran School, 105 Allen St., Jenera. Tasting begins at 5 p.m. Attendees can taste each participant's special recipe and vote for their favorite. Anyone who wants to enter their own chili is also welcome. They should bring four to six quarts to be judged. In addition to chili, there will be hot dogs to eat. Water will be provided. Also scheduled is a cornhole tournament for participants who are in eighth grade and older. Both contests are free to enter and to taste. Gift cards will be awarded to the winners of both the chili cook-off and the cornhole tournament. These activities will be held on the school parking lot but will move inside to the gym if it rains. Main St., Arlington, will implement new operating hours beginning earlier in the morning to better accommodate the schedules of local residents, a release from Findlay-Hancock County Public Library states. Beginning Oct. 6, the new hours of operation will be: Tuesday and Thursday — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday and Monday — Closed "After careful consideration of the usage patterns at the Arlington Branch, we are excited to offer morning hours three days a week, while also making efficient use of the library's operating budget," said FHCPL Executive Director Sarah Clevidence. "Based on community comments, we know our patrons will appreciate the opportunity to visit the library a bit earlier in the day." Vanlue Class of 2027 holding Veterans Day program VANLUE — Vanlue Local School's Class of 2027 is hosting its 2025 Veterans Day program on Tuesday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10 a.m. in the school auditorium. The event will welcome and honor all veterans for their service. Following the program, food will be provided in the band room.
