O-G girls win team title at Kalida

CROSS COUNTRY KALIDA INVITATIONALKALIDA – Ottawa-Glandorf's Maci Maag was sixth overall in a time of 19:17 and the Titans' top five runners all cracked the top 20 in winning the girl team title of the Kalida Invitational on Saturday.Alivia Schroeder was 14th (20:14) and Izzy Utendorf (17th, 20:21), Brea Recker (19th, 20:28) and Carly Siefker (20th, 20:31) were top 20 as well as O-G compiled 76 points to edge Napoleon (79) for the girls crown. Columbus Grove was fifth in the girls standings, Van Buren eighth and Liberty-Benton tenth.Convoy Crestview (51 points) won the boys title over several area teams, with Columbus Grove second (65), Liberty-Benton third (70), Van Buren fifth (150) and O-G eighth (235) in the 21-school field.Patrick Henry's Mia Amador ran a school-record time of 18:26 in finishing second in the girls race. Columbus Grove's Sara Kamphaus was 12th (20:05).Convoy Crestview's Lincoln Smith also set a record with a time of 15:58 in winning a tightly contested boys race.Bluffton's Aiden Lee was second overall with a time of 16:03, and Columbus Grove's Caiden Squillante (16:05) edged Crestview's Derek Young by fractions of a second for third. O-G's Cooper Fischer (16:20) was fifth and Grove's Holden Hartzog (16:29), again by fractions of a second, nipped Liberty-Benton's Bryce Hans for seventh.Aidan Vogt (16th, 17:12), Braylon Best (19th, 17:17) and Zack Bryan (20th, 17:18) helped Grove land runner-up honors in the team standings. Liberty-Benton's Cohen Levenhagen (16:49) was tenth overall and Lane Fannin (17:20) was 21st..Carter Fry (12th, 16:52), Carter Finley (15th, 17:08) and Andrew Puperi (22nd, 17:20) led the way for Van Buren.Leipsic's Calvin Miller (16:56) was 13th overall. OLD FORT INVITEOLD FORT – Upper Sandusky placed second in the boys division and sixth among the girls teams in the John Brueggemeier Cross Country Invitational hosted by Old Fort on Saturday.New Riegel (73 points) beat out Upper Sandusky (88) in the boys meet. North Baltimore was 11th, Riverdale 18th and Cory-Rawson 21st.The girls meet went to the wire with Tiffin Columbian (81) edging Seneca East (89) and Fremont Ross (90) for the title. Upper Sandusky was sixth, North Baltimore eighth, Riverdale 15th and Cory-Rawson 19th.Upper's Henry Minehart (9th, 18:00.88), Andrew Leightey (10th, 18:10.97) and Franklin Arnold (12th, 18:28.92) were well-grouped for the Rams. Joshua Craig (19:07.12) and Bryce Weyand (19:15.06) were 28th and 29th.Riverdale's Gabe Donaldson led area runners, finishing 11th overall with a time of 17:59.02.
