Arcadia UM ARCADIA — Arcadia United Methodist Church will celebrate Holy Communion on Sunday. The Rev. Gerry Hubbs will be speaking on "A Love That Surpasses Knowledge — Fail More." The scripture is from Ephesians 5. Sunday school starts at 9, prior to the 10 a.m. worship service. All ages are welcome. The church continues to prepare for the fall bazaar with members making apple dumplings and candy this week. The church is located at 19397 County Road 216 (Brown Road) and is handicapped accessible. College First FINDLAY — "Messiah" is the sermon message that will be presented at the 9, 10 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at College First Church of God. The scripture reading is Philippians 2:5-8. Encounter will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. every Wednesday with the purpose of introducing youth to Jesus. These gatherings begin with enthusiastic worship followed by various games, snacks, scripture memory and lessons in a fun and loving atmosphere. Contact Nicky or the church office with questions. Finally Friday for children in kindergarten through fifth grade will feature a Boo Bash with wagon rides, games, a costume competition featuring G-rated attire and candy. The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31, starting in the fellowship hall. The next Senior Fun Dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the fellowship hall. A "Walking Taco" with all the fixings will be the main course. Attendees should bring a salad, side dish or desert to share. Drinks and table service will be provided. College First in joining with St. Marks United Methodist Church and Movement Church to host a Night To Shine which is part of the Tim Tebow Foundation. The event, which is being held locally for the fourth time, will be Feb. 13, 2026 at the University of Findlay's Alumni Memorial Union. For current updates, visit CollegeFirst.org Findlay Grace Brethren FINDLAY — The congregation of Findlay Grace Brethren Church will explore the theme Greatness in God's Family" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Members will also discuss Jesus' teaching on divorce and how God wants strong families to reflect his goodness. The scripture reading is Matthew 19:1-15. Coffee and doughnuts will be served prior to the service, and pizza and fellowship will be offered afterwards. The church will hold a nine-week Dave Ramsey's Financial Serminar. First Lutheran FINDLAY — First Lutheran Church welcomes all to worship as the 17th Sunday after Pentecost is celebrated. The Rev. Tucker O'Leary will share the message from Luke 17:5-10 and a special children's sermon. Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday school has resumed at 9:30 a.m. for children in kindergarten through high school including confirmation. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m. This month's requests for the Blessing Basket Food Pantry at St. John's Lutheran Church include egg noodles, paper towels, laundry soap, shampoo and dish detergent. These items can be placed on the cart by the elevator or dropped off at the pantry on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. O'Leary continues to lead a 15-minute midday prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday in the chapel for members and the community to sit and refocus their day with personal prayer. Holy Communion is offered on Tuesday and Thursday, and a short healing service will be available on Monday and Wednesday. The church's book club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss "The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year" by Margaret Renkl. Good Hope Lutheran, Arlington ARLINGTON — Holy Communion will be shared at each of the three worships services this weekend at Good Hope Lutheran Church. Everyone is welcome to attend at 5 p.m. today or at 7:30 or 10 a.m. Sunday which is the 17th Sunday after Pentecost. The Rev. Steve Ramsey's message will be "Increase Our Faith." Bible lessons will include Habakuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4; Psalm 37:1-9; 2 Timothy 1:1-14; and Luke 17:5-10. Pam McCloud will accompany the hymns tonight. Montgomery Moore will serve as organist/pianist at the Sunday services. His special selections will be "Be Strong in the Lord" as the prelude and "Be Thou My Vision" for the offertory. At the 10 a.m. service, the senior choir, under the direction of Dan Basinger, will sing "Remember Him" with Moore accompanying. Bible study and Sunday school for all ages begins at 9 a.m. Classes range from nursery to adult. For those arriving prior to class time, snacks will be available. LYO classes for grades 4-6 will meet at 5 p.m. Sunday, while confirmation classes will be held at 6 and the men's group will meet at 7. A hot breakfast will be served to Arlington students in grades 7-12 during the Teen Breakfast set for 7 a.m. Thursday. A devotional will also be given before the students are dismissed to walk to school. The church's food pantry will also be held on Thursday for anyone desiring a box of food and household products. Howard UM FINDLAY — Howard United Methodist Church will hold its annual Fall Festival today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot. There will be free food, games and a bounce house. The event is free and open to all. The church is open to the public for worship on Sundays at 9 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 10:15. All are welcome. Our Lady of Consolation, Carey CAREY — Our Lady of Consolation will hold its final Hope and Healing Mass of the year today. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated within Mass following the homily. During the closing song, all present are invited to come forward to receive an individual blessing with the Relic of the True Cross. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Knights of Columbus will host lunch in the Shrine Cafeteria. A donation of $7 is suggested. At 2 p.m. in the Upper Basilica, full Shrine devotions with an outdoor Rosary procession will be prayed. Confessions will be heard in the Lower Basilica from 3:30-4:30 p.m. St. Andrew's UM FINDLAY — The Rev. Dan Miller will share his message, "Be Curious, Not Judgmental," on Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The service begins at 9 a.m. and includes scripture, music, prayer, a children's message and a meaningful sermon. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month, and all are welcome to participate. Ministry highlights at St. Andrew's will also be shared, and the Jubilation Choir will sing "Jesus is the Song." The church's trunk or treat party will be held from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 18 in the parking lot west of the church. This is a free event, open to the community. There will be fun, decorated cars and treats, all in a safe, family-friendly space. St. Marks UM FINDLAY — "Kindness" is the subject of the Rev. Dan Metzger's sermon Sunday at St. Marks United Methodist Church. He is leading the congregation through the "fruit of the spirit." According to Christian teaching, a genuine believer is known by their "fruit," which refers to the observable evidence of a transformed life through the Holy Spirit including virtues like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The church offers two worship services on Sundays — a traditional service at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service at 10:45. Director of Discipleship Mandi Stevens has created another weekly "Faith 5" to encourage daily reading of the Bible. The scripture for this week is 1 John 3:16-20. For anyone who wants more fellowship, there are currently five adult Bible study classes available throughout the week. St. Paul Lutheran, Jenera JENERA - The 17th Sunday after Pentecost will be observed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, during the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11:15 a.m. contemporary service. The Rev. Deb Noll will lead the services with communion being served at both. Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:15 a.m. Confirmation class will be held from 5-6 p.m. with the youth group, Ignite, having a campfire from 6-8 p.m. Sewing day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Bible study begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Trinity Lutheran FINDLAY — Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., will host services at 9 and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Trinity's new Bell Choir, under the direction of Joy Conners, will lead worship with "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." The Rev. Will Stenke's sermon is titled "God Provides: Blessings of Daily Bread." There will be a Wednesday evening worship at 7 p.m. Communion will be celebrated at all services. Anyone who is unable to attend in person may drive under the entrance off of West Bigelow Avenue at noon Sunday and Stenke will bring communion and a blessing to you in your car. A visit to Suter's is planned from noon to 3 p.m. today. Enjoy the corn maze ($5/6), hayrides ($3), cider, sweets and more. Members may also bring friends. Upper Room FINDLAY — A new series dealing with the criticisms Jesus faced and how he responded will begin this week at the Upper Room Church of God, 520 W. Bigelow Ave. This week's message is titled "Jesus, The Life of the Party?" Life groups for all ages meet at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, followed by spirit-filled worship at 10:30 a.m. Bible studies for men, women, teens and children are held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Those interested can join at anytime. West Independence FOSTORIA — Daniel 6:13-23, the account of Daniel in the lion's den, will be the scripture reading that precedes the Rev. Ben Wallick's sermon, "Preparing in Prayer," during the 9 a.m. service Sunday at West Independence Church. Children's Moments will be presented by Elaine Nye. Following worship, coffee fellowship is held in the Family Life Center. Sunday school classes begin at 10:15 a.m. and are available for all ages from nursery through adult.
