Yellow Jackets get past Trojans in four

PERRYSBURG 3FINDLAY 1PERRYSBURG – Findlay High's volleyball team took Perrysburg to four sets on Tuesday before dropping a 25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18 decision to state-ranked Yellow Jackets in a Northern Lakes League matchup.Davinee Harris and Maggie Crates both had 12 kills and Lauren Heydinger and Addy Rood (2 blocks) added five each.Anika Helms dished out 35 assists and had four ace serves for Findlay (8-12). Delaney Harris (2 aces) had a team-leading 20 digs and Crates, Davinee Harris and Helms all had 10.Findlay hosts Sylvania Northview on Thursday and wraps up the regular season Oct. 14 at Oregon Clay. CALVERT 3L-BENTON 0TIFFIN – In a matchup of two-time state volleyball champions, Tiffin Calvert powered its way to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-20 win over Liberty-Benton on Tuesday.Ohio's Division IV state champion in 2018 and 2020 and currently the No. 1-ranked Division VII team in the state, Tiffin Calvert upped its unbeaten record to 20-0. Bella Borgio pounded 12 kills, Emily Miller had 11 and Karris Marinis added nine for the Senecas. Bryn Dirksen had a team-high 33 assists.Corra Dehart (2 blocks) had seven kills, Elise Brzezinski had six and Sadie Barnes added four for Liberty-Benton.Ally Hocanson had 18 assists and Maddy Amstutz came up with 15 digs for the Eagles (15-6), who were Ohio's Division III state champion in 2019 and 2021. LEIPSIC 3MILLER CITY 0LEIPSIC – Danaysia Danzy had 22 kills and 15 digs on Tuesday and Karmyn Brough had 30 assists and seven digs as Leipsic captured an outright Putnam County League volleyball championship with a straight set 25-21, 25-23, 25-19 win over Miller City.Kya Brandt had seven kills and 10 digs and Sidney Apple had five kills and four aces serves. Jaelynn Siefer had a team-high 23 digs as the Vikings, 20-1 overall and ranked No. 2 in the Division VII state poll, completed a 6-0 run through the PCL and handed Miller City (14-6, 4-2 PCL) just its second league loss.Leipsic can claim another outright league title today when the Vikings (9-0 BVC) face Arlington (10-10, 5-4 BVC) in a Blanchard Valley Conference matchupJUNIOR VARSITY: Miller City, 2-1. Kern and Shaheen also had five aces for the Panthers (10-11). H-LOUDON 3WOODMORE 1BASCOM – Araceli Velasquez had 13 digs, 11 kills and five blocks and Emery Siebenaller (8 digs, 5 aces) and Lily Brickner (4 blocks) had nine kills each in Hopewell-Loudon's 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21 win over Woodmore.Savanna Cook (9 digs, 5 aces) led the Chieftains with 21 assists and Maddie Holcomb had 24 digs.
