UF announces new pre-med program

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay has announced a new biology pre-medicine program for students in medical school and healthcare-related careers. Prospective students can apply to UF this fall and select the new undergraduate track with a pre-medicine emphasis, providing them with a pathway towards professional schools and colleges in medicine, chiropractic, dentistry, physician's assistant work and optometry. "Our new biology pre-medicine program reinforces our focus on students and provides them with the opportunities to learn and eventually serve their communities through meaningful and productive healthcare careers that begin at the University of Findlay," Nikki Hintze, vice president of enrollment management and marketing, said in a release from UF. The program will be housed in the College of Sciences, where students can take rigorous coursework in biology, chemistry and human physiology with hands-on clinical experience and advising. Students will also have opportunities to conduct undergraduate research and participate in the pre-med club. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with faculty, healthcare professionals and admission advisors.
