Children's Museum still searching for new home

FINDLAY — The Children's Museum of Findlay continues its search for a new home, sharing its latest update Thursday on Facebook as the nonprofit remains in active negotiations for a new space. Executive Director Allison Behm-Kemmere thanked members and the community for their ongoing patience and support as the museum works to reopen. Behm-Kemmere stepped into the role in August, succeeding former Executive Director Kora Burch. "When the mall's closure was announced, our Board of Directors immediately began exploring options for a new location," Behm-Kemmere wrote in the post. "Our goal has remained the same: to find a space that is affordable, accessible, and welcoming for all families. We want our next home to be a place that inspires learning, creativity, and play for every child who walks through the doors." The museum closed its former location inside the Findlay Village Mall in January due to the planned partial demolition of the mall. Since then, the nonprofit has hosted various pop-up events and community activities to stay engaged with families. In July, Board President Kaylee Schleucher announced that the museum had entered into "active negotiations" for a new site, stating that it was a major milestone in the museum's relocation efforts. While full details have yet to be released, negotiations remain ongoing for a new location. "As a nonprofit organization, we face the challenge of limited financial resources," Behm-Kemmere said. "For that reason, we've chosen to delay major fundraising efforts until a lease is secured. This ensures that when we reach out to the community, we do so with a clear and actionable plan." Behm-Kemmere added that while negotiations take time and remain confidential, each discussion brings the museum closer to reopening its doors and welcoming families back into a new space. "We remain deeply committed to rebuilding a space where curiosity and creativity can thrive.
