Vanlue upends Hornets in three sets

Allison Brooks served up five aces and Kennedy Brooks and Heuerman added four aces each for the Wildcats (3-19), who will face Hardin Northern (15-7) Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the first of two OHSAA Division VII sectional tournament games at Arlington. MONROEVILLE 3CAREY 0MONROEVILLE – State-ranked Monroeville lived up to its lofty ranking on Saturday with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 win over Carey. The Eagles, 20-2, are ranked No. 5 in the state's Division VII poll.Rylie Stoops and Emily Brodman were both 25-of-26 serving and Abbi Seager was 25-of-27. All three had seven kills. Seager also had 15 digs and Stoops and McKinnley Kessler had 11. Kessler added a team-high 17 assists for Carey. The Blue Devils, 16-6 on the season, will face Woodmore on Wednesday in one of two Division IV sectional tournament games at Van Buren. Van Buren and Northwood will clash in the second match.JUNIOR VARSITY: Carey, 11-25, 25-14, 25-19.
