Riverdale shuts out Van Buren, advances

SOCCER RIVERDALE 3VAN BUREN 0VAN BUREN – Van Buren's girls soccer team ended the regular season on a five-match winning streak. Riverdale had lost four of its last five.Tournament time is called the second season, though. Every team starts from scratch and Riverdale made the most of that opportunity on Tuesday, avenging a regular-season loss to Van Buren by upending the No. 3-seeded Black Knights 3-0 in a Division V sectional final at Van Buren.Riverdale, 5-9-3 and seeded fifth in the sectional/district field, led 1-0 at the half, but got two second-half goals from Marissa Bonham to break it open. Bristel Cramner added a goal and an assist for the Falcons, who advance to the Division V district at Clyde where they will face No. 2-seeded Mansfield Christian, a 7-0 winner over Edison in its tournament opener, Monday at 7 p.m.Gwen Bucher also had an assist and Ryleigh Howard made six saves in goal for Riverdale.Brookeanne Busch had nine saves for Van Buren (10-7-0). BLUFFTON 7ALLEN EAST 0BLUFFTON – Bluffton peppered Allen East with 24 shots on goal and stormed past the Mustangs 7-0 on Tuesday in a Division V girls sectional soccer final.Aubrey Burkholder scored three goals and assisted on three others. Willow Derstine scored two goals and Carly Wise had two assists for the Pirates (9-8-1), who will face Ada (11-4-2) in a district semifinal match to be played 7 p.m. Monday at Bluffton's Steinmetz Field. Ada advanced on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Kalida.Blair Utendorf added a goal and an assist against Allen East. Ellie Bogart also scored a goal, and Greta Myers had an assist.Continental and Columbus Grove will clash in Monday's 5 p.m. district semifinal at Bluffton. Columbus Grove thrashed Lima Central Catholic 8-0 in its first-round game, while Continental upended No. 1-seeded Miller City 1-0. ADA 2KALIDA 1ADA – Kenley Poling scored both goals in Ada's 2-1 sectional final soccer win over Kalida.Ada had a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal and got two goalie saves from Emily Gibson. VOLLEYBALL OREGON CLAY 3FINDLAY 0OREGON – Findlay and Oregon Clay wrapped up their 2025 regular season volleyball schedules on Tuesday, with the Eagles earning a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 Northern Lakes League win over the Trojans.Maggie Crates led Findlay with eight kills, Davinee Harris had seven and Neela Epps added four.Harris also had 11 digs, Stephanie Ragan had nine and Crates eight.Anika Helms led the Trojans with 24 assists.Findlay went 8-14 during the 2025 regular season.
