Adult programming at the library and senior living facilities

Looking for something new to do this November? Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has you covered. From craft kits to book discussions, there's plenty happening for adults who love to learn, create, and connect. Beginning Nov. 3, you may pick up the latest Make it at Home craft kit, full of everything you will need to make a ribbon tree ornament this month! Kits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Looking for a new book to cuddle up with during these cold months? On Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., get into the holiday spirit by attending "Sips & Stories: A Holiday Reading Retreat." Adults may sample a variety of teas and other hot drinks while exploring new releases, cozy reads, and holiday stories that are perfect for winter. Have you thought about joining the Friends of the Library? On Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., the Friends of the Library will hold its annual meeting, featuring a presentation about the Junior Home. Any Friends member who attends will receive a free gift. Our adult book discussion group "Let's Talk About It" will meet on Monday, Nov. 24 at 10:30 a.m., where we will be discussing The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. Copies of the book are on display at the Library and are available to check out. Think you're a trivia master? Join us for an evening of fun, facts, and friendly competition with "Trivia Tuesday: Winter Wonderland" on Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Space is limited, so please register your team of up to six people by visiting the online calendar at www.tiffinsenecalibrary.org. Tiffin-Seneca Public Library provides quality adult programs at the library, but what about residence of nursing homes and senior living facilities who cannot come to the library to enjoy a program? One important service the library provides for seniors at area senior living facilities and nursing homes is programming at their facility. The Extension and Outreach Department at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library provides programs 10 months out the year, for both seniors and adults with differing abilities at their location. The library currently visits 12 different senior living facilities and nursing homes in Seneca County, as well as three facilities for adults with differing abilities each month. The November program theme is Hot Chocolate, Tea & Coffee. Seniors will enjoy an informative presentation, snack, and a craft all centered around the theme. Seniors look forward to attending the programs and appreciate this opportunity to share their thoughts, memories, and stories. Programs are often followed by an interactive activity, like a craft, that allows for socialization and creative expression. The activity helps to increase mental abilities, promote manual dexterity, and improve feelings of well-being. Participating in library programs helps seniors to alleviate isolation and inactivity. Keeping seniors engaged and active in our community is important. The library looks forward to continuing to provide quality programming in our community, both at the library and through our Outreach and Extension Department at senior living facilities.
