Take a Fall ArtWalk downtown

FINDLAY — Artwork in an array of different forms will be celebrated during ArtWalk, a family-friendly free event taking place in downtown Findlay from 5-9 p.m. Friday. There will be music playing, displays by local artists, treats to sample and even a chance to decorate an ornament that will hang on Findlay's Christmas tree in Dorney Plaza. During ArtWalk, businesses and local creatives come together to offer a free event for the community. Artists and musicians are located at local shops, restaurants, and businesses, all within walking distance of each other. Visitors can view artwork and talk to artists, listen to the talents of musicians and support local businesses. Artwork — ranging from Chinese brush painting to pottery — will be available for purchase at nearly every location. Just prior to the start of ArtWalk, Anchored Sports will officially open with a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. Ten of the Jones Building artists will welcome guests into their studios to see their work and chat about their process. The Findlay Art League will host a reception for its fall show from 5-9 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7. Acrylic paints and reprints by Awakening Minds Art students will also be on display. The third annual pottery fundraiser will also be held at the FAL pottery studio. The KanDu Group artists will display a variety of mediums. Glowforge will be located in the studio offering the public a chance to design and engrave a custom keychain for $5. There will be an opportunity for the public to decorate ornaments for Findlay's Christmas tree. The artistic endeavor will take placce at the Findlay Inn from 5-8 p.m. The event is free for residents as part of the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation's Fun for All series of free community events. Registration is not needed. The Community Foundation will also be holding community conversations at the Findlay Inn. Visitors will find live music at Dietsch Brothers, Alexandria's, Findlay Brewing Company, The Bourbon Affair, The Lavender Hour, Living Waters Salon & Spa, Findlay Art League and Open Mic Night at Coffee Amici. The newly reformed Findlay Community Orchestra will also be performing from 7-8 p.m. at the Findlay Inn. The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts will be busy with several artists housed in the atrium and lobby. And next door at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, the annual Author Fest opens at 5:30 p.m. with over 35 local authors showcasing their books and available to chat with visitors. The Friends of the Library's semi-annual book sale will be open until 8 p.m. Visitors can choose books, DVDs, CDs and more at bargain prices or fill a bag for $3. The event is planned by Visit Findlay!, Hancock County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Jones Building Artists, Findlay Art League and the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts.
