Leipsic takes on tough Mohawk squad in Week 12

Consistency in effort, attitude and composure is what helps lead the Mohawk football team on Friday nights to victory, and it's one of the standards that coach Eric Daniel has set. Leipsic has shown those things as well under coach Joe Kirkendall, on its way to a 9-1 record and first round bye in the Region 26 playoffs.This week, the Warriors and Vikings will square off in Leipsic. The last time that Mohawk and Leipsic battled was in the fall of 2019, when the Vikings won 30-8.Mohawk (9-2) smoked Montpelier 41-6 in week 11 at home in the first round.Lepsic came in as runner-up in the Blanchard Valley Conference, behind unbeaten champion Liberty-Benton. Vikings quarterback Marc Kirkendall has completed 139 of 239 passes this season for 2,249 yards and 21 touchdowns, and averaged 224.9 yards per game. The main leading rusher for Leipsic is Marquise Williams. who has ran 103 times for 846 yards for 14 touchdowns and averages 8.2 yards per carry and 84.6 yards per game. Coming in on the receptions for the Vikings is Avery Paris, who has caught the ball 58 times for 1,066 yards for 10 touchdowns. Paris averages 18.4 yards per reception and 106.6 yards per game.On the offensive side for Mohawk, Andon Clouse has completed 92 passes out of 142 for 1,729 yards for 18 touchdowns. Clouse has rushed 140 times for 827 yards for 11 touchdowns and averages 89.4 yards per game. Kaden Bish is the leading rusher for the Warriors with running 138 times for 1,411 yards, 22 touchdowns and averages 128.3 yards per game.There are three receivers that round out the powerful offense of the Warriors: seniors Brant Kirian and Owen Patrizi and sophomore Levi Tiell. Kirian has caught the ball 33 times for 536 yards, and six touchdowns. He averages 16.2 yards per catch and 48.7 yards per game. Tiell has caught the ball 30 times for 850 yards and nine touchdowns. Tiell averages 28.3 yards per catch and 77.3 yards per game. Patrizi has 23 catches for 288 yards and has two touchdowns. He averages 12.5 yards per catch and 26.2 yards per game.Both defenses are stout as well. Leipsic's top tackler Preston Schroeder has 77 on the season with 42 solos. He will be coming against Patrizi, who leads Mohawk with 122 tackles on the season, 40 solo tackles and one sack.Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday
