Diberardino ties it, wins it for Findlay in OT

HOCKEY FINDLAY 4MIDLAND 3FINDLAY – Louis Diberardino tied the game, and then won it as well, as Findlay pulled out a 4-3 overtime victory over Midland on Friday night in hockey action. Diberardino hit a game-tying goal at the 6:10 mark to force overtime, and then hit the game-winner at the 36-second mark in overtime to give FHS the win. Colin Somerville scored a goal in both the first and third periods for the Trojans. Draven Wilson tallied two assists, while Ryan Maas added one as well. Goalkeeper Patrick Shively recorded 32 saves. The Trojans, now 1-0 on the year, will open Northwest Hockey Conference action on Friday, hosting the Sylvania Northview Wildcats at 7 p.m. from the Cube. MEN'S BASKETBALL FINDLAY 103TRUMAN ST. 79QUNICY, IL. – The University of Findlay men's basketball team opened its season on the road Friday, handing Truman State University a 24-point loss in a 103-79 blowout win. Sophomore big Alex Kendall led the Oilers, posting 25 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks in 19 minutes off the bench. Senior wing Mason Brandt finished with 18 points, six rebounds, and a steal, going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Junior point guard Anthony Johnson tallied 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, knocking down two three-pointers. FHS alum junior Jake Bishop stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Sophomore forward Ian Ioppolo ended with 10 points and six boards, while sophomore Steele Meister added five points, three rebounds, and two assists. Truman State's Jahki Parrinello paced the Bulldogs with 25 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Emmanuel Byrd recorded 14 points and nine rebounds. Julian Brown had 12 points and two assists, and Quientan McCafferty added seven points and nine rebounds. The Oilers, now off to a 1-0 start, are back in action today, taking on Quincy University on the road at 4 p.m.
