Wayne State overcomes early deficit, stops Oilers

Wayne State moved up to 7-3 with its home win. Gabi Lutchka led all scorers with 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Taylor Thompson was dominant inside for the Warriors, finishing with 13 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists. Jaci Tubergen had 13 points and four assists, while Emily Homan added 11 points and four rebounds. MacKenzie Schulz led the Oilers with 14 points and five rebounds. Taylor Stanley recorded 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior forward Alyssa Ziehler, usually the Oilers' top performer, was held to just nine points and 11 rebounds. Addisyn Freeman poured in nine points and six rebounds. MEN'S BASKETBALL DAVENPORT 83FINDLAY 74GRAND RAPIDS, MI. – The University of Findlay men's basketball team dropped its third in four games on Saturday, losing to Davenport University 83-74 in non-conference action.The Oilers trailed by just one point at the half, and even took the lead, 57-55, halfway through the second half, before allowing a 28-17 Davenport run to seal the game. A key to the Panthers' victory was their ability to get to the charity stripe; Davenport shot 34 free throws compared to just 11 for the Oilers, connecting on 24 of them. Ken Walker led the Panthers with 25 points, going 12-of-12 from the line. Dylan Smith recorded a double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alden Ritt had 14 points and two blocks. Curtis Jackson tacked on 10 points, five assists, and two steals. Mason Brandt once again led the Oilers, finishing with 13 points and seven rebounds while going 5-of-11 from the floor and knocking down a pair of triples. Javonte Hill had another strong offensive showing, going 5-for-7 and totaling 13 points as well. Alex Kendall put up 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocks.
