GIRLS BASKETBALL VAN BUREN 61LEIPSIC 53VAN BUREN– In a battle against one of the top scorers in the area, Van Buren got the better of Kya Brandt and Leipsic, 61-53 Friday night, with a big scoring night for one of its own. Brooklyn Wilkin scored 36 for the Black Knights, going 3-of-4 from long range and grabbing four rebounds. Maddie Hudok added seven points. Brandt, not to be denied despite the loss, stuffed the stat sheet with 35 points, eight boards, two assists, three steals, and a block. Able to get to the free-throw line at will, Brandt went 12-of-14 from the stripe. Sidney Apple tacked on seven points and four rebounds. Van Buren, now standing at 6-6 and 2-3 in the BVC, travels to Ada next Thursday at 6 p.m. for another BVC test.
