GYMNASTICSFINDLAY – Avalon Sprang scored an 8.5 in the vault, and had Findlay's top individual finish this weekend at Beauty and The Beast at FHS.Sprang finished third in the vault, and the Trojans finished sixth overall at the event, which attracted gymnasts from 20 schools.The Trojans finished with 130.4 points. Patrick Henry (76.6) took 11th, and Cory-Rawson (33.15) took 16th.Columbus DeSales, with a score of 137.95, took home the team title, outdistancing runner-up Olentangy, which finished with 136.9 points.While Sprang had the best finish in the vault, her teammate, Joselyn Weihrauch, was eighth with an 8.1. Another Trojan, Renee Metzger, finished 10th in the vault with an 8.0. Cory-Rawson's Maddie Oman, who registered a 7.9, was 11th.On the bars, Weihrauch was eighth with a score of 8.35. Oman was fourth on the beam (9.15), while Findlay's Bella Lonaker (8.85) was eighth in the event.Weihrauch scored a 9.1 on the floor, placing sixth. Metzger was eighth (8.8) on the floor and Sprang (8.6) was 11th in the event.Metzger was 11th in the all-around, registering a 33.3. HOCKEYPERRYSBURG 2FINDLAY 1BOWLING GREEN-- After fighting through seven rounds of a shootout in Friday's 2-1 win over Bowling Green, the Findlay hockey team found itself in a familiar spot Saturday against Perrysburg in Bowling Green.Overtime.But this time, it was the Yellow Jackets who prevailed.\Anthony Mazzullo's score with 3:27 left in the extra session gave Perrysburg a 2-1 win over the Trojans.Findlay scored in the final seconds of the first period; Louis DiBerardino's unassisted goal with eight seconds remaining gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead.Findlay maintained that lead deep into the third period. But with 4:33 remaining in regulation, Colston Orlando found the back of the net – off assists from Nick Callen and Seth Haney – to knot the game.Brett Flanagan made 23 saves in goal for Findlay, which dropped to 11-10. The Yellow Jackets goalkeeper, Jane Dombeck, made 26 saves. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MALONE 73FINDLAY 64CANTON– A big third-quarter run helped Malone to a 73-64 home G-MAC win over Findlay on Saturday. The Pioneers outscored the Oilers 24-13 in the third en route to a conference victory. Malone won the rebounding battle 41-35, and accumulated four blocks and seven steals as a team.Ottawa-Glandorf alum Erin Kaufman led the Pioneers with 21 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Kylee Bruce finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Brinn Hunt tacked on 12 points, seven boards, and three steals. Findlay's Alyssa Ziehler ended with 14 points and six rebounds, going 7-of-11 from the field. Ariyah Douglas netted a trio of three-pointers in 17 minutes off the bench, finishing with 11 points and three assists. Allie Stockton put up 10 points, eight boards, and three steals, while MacKenzie Schulz also poured in 10. Ella Mescher added seven points. The Oilers dropped to 6-8 and just 2-5 in the G-MAC following the loss. Despite being out-rebounded by 19 (47-28) the Oilers forced 15 turnovers and held the Pioneers to just 3-for-17 shooting from long range to clinch a Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory. Veterans Jagger Landers and Anthony Johnson each notched 16 points for the Oilers, both with two made triples. Senior guard Mekhi Elmore finished with 11. Big man Alex Kendall had eight points and five rebounds, and Steele Meister added eight as well. FHS graduate Javonte Hill recorded six points and three blocks, while fellow Trojan Jake Bishop tacked on six points, snagging two steals and knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Leipsic grad and UF top scorer Mason Brandt was held to just three points on 1-for-7 shooting, but led the Oilers in rebounding with six boards including four offensive ones. Emmanuel Oladeru paced the Pioneers with a double-double, putting up 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Nic Williams poured in 12 points and six assists, and Logan Forbes had eight points and six boards. Joey DeGeorge added eight points.
