McCOMB – McComb stayed with the top-ranked team in Division VII for a half. The Panthers and Miller City were tied at 27 at the break, but the Wildcats used a 19-5 surge in the third quarter to pull away, and defeat McComb 61-43. Anna Lammers had 14 points for Miller City, which improved to 13-1. Libby Erford scored 11 for the Wildcats, while Vivian Otto and Sophia Ruck added 10 points each. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 4 in Division VI, jumped out to a 17-12 on No. 15 Patrick Henry after one quarter. But the Patriots stormed back. Carys Crossland scored 26 points in the game, and Patrick Henry used a 22-5 burst in the second quarter to down the Bulldogs 60-42. Ada Christman added 14 points for the Patriots, who avenged last season's loss to Columbus Grove in the regional final, and improved this season's record to 11-2. Christman nearly had a triple double, with 10 rebounds and nine assists. Columbus Grove, which slipped to 11-2, got eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks from Nicole Nesby, and eight points from Kendal Palte. Columbus Grove's only other loss this season came to undefeated Ottawa-Glandorf. Grove will play Lincolnview Thursday, then Saturday, will play at Miller City, the top-ranked team in Division VII. But the Big Green, led by Brooklyn Koester's 18 points, won each of the next three quarters, and came away with a 48-38 win. Kendal Schnipke added nine points for Ottoville, which improved to 12-3, 3-2 in the PCL. Vanessa Hilvers added seven points. The sophomore scored 26 points and had 11 rebounds, both game-highs as the Tigers held on to beat the Raiders, 49-42. North Baltimore led 27-24 at the half and 37-34 going to the final quarter. Kaylee Allison also had a big game for the Tigers, who improved to 13-2. She collected 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Aubrey Cotterman corralled nine boards for NB.
