FHS grad Wilkin in title game with Indiana

COLLEGE FOOTBALL MIAMI – For the second straight year, the College Football Playoff National Championship will involve a Findlay High grad with Baylor Wilkin being a back-up lineman on the Indiana depth chart.Wilkin, who was first-team all-Northern Lakes League and all-Northwest District at tackle for Findlay High a year ago, is listed as the back-up left guard for the Indiana team that will face Miami Monday in the college football championship game. Ironically, left guard is the same position Luke Montgomery manned for Ohio State when the Buckeyes beat Notre Dame 34-23 in last year's final.A 6-foot-5, 290-pound lineman, Wilkin is one of 11 true freshmen to see action for the Hoosiers. As the back-up to two-year starter Drew Evans, Wilkin saw action in three games, including extended time in a 55-10 win over Maryland. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL L-B tabs Peters as football coach FINDLAY – Heading into a major transition in its athletics programs, Liberty-Benton will do so with a new football coach, with several media sources posting on Friday that Jason Peters would be replacing Scott Garlock at that position.A Hilliard native and three-year letterman on the offensive line at Bowling Green State University, Peters has previous coaching experience at Fostoria, Columbus Bexley, Columbus Bishop Hartley and Hilliard Darby. He has been the head football coach at Grandview Heights since 2007.Peters is a former Mid-State League Coach of the Year and compiled a 112-91 record in 19 seasons as the Bobcats head coach.Garlock stepped down after guiding L-B to a 12-1 record in 2025, his fifth as head coach. He also coached the Eagles from 2002 to 2021 and had an overall career record of 106-25 at the school.Peters take over as the Eagle' head coach as Liberty-Benton makes the transition from the Blanchard Valley Conference to the Cardinal Division of the Northern Lakes League starting with the 2026-27 school year.
