Update: Hancock County moves to Level 3 Roadway Advisory

FINDLAY — Hancock County joined a growing number of Ohio counties by bumping up to a Level 3 Roadway Advisory as of 3 p.m. Sunday. Wyandot and Seneca counties are also on a Level 3. Level 3 means all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. Sheriff Michael Cortez suggested employees should call their employer to determine if they should report to work. "Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow or ice," Cortez said on Facebook this morning, when Hancock moved to its current Level 2. Wyandot County and Seneca County moved up to Level 3 mid-morning. "All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions," said the Wyandot County Facebook Page. The University of Findlay announced it was closing both Sunday and Monday, and Findlay City Schools announced it would be closed Monday. Other Hancock County schools closing Monday include Arcadia, Liberty-Benton, Van Buren, Cory-Rawson, Vanlue North Baltimore and Fostoria. McComb is having a scheduled work day with staff working remotely. The region remains under a Winter Storm Warning through 7 a.m. Monday with a total of 9 to 12 inches of snow possible, according to the National Weather Service. A handful of area Sunday morning staples, such as Living Hope Church and Gateway Church, were closed for their weekly services due to the storm, which is predicted to continue to persist through the day. Matt Bruning, press secretary of the Ohio Department of Transportation, said this on social media Sunday: "More than 1,220 crews remain on-duty and they are expected to stay on the road around the clock until well after the snow stops falling from the sky. Very cold temperatures are limiting the effectiveness of the salt, but honestly at this point in the storm, it's more about plowing than treating. If you can avoid travel today, please do."
