Findlay's rally falls short at Whitmer

TOLEDO – Findlay had a tough first quarter against Whitmer, but rallied late before falling to the Panthers, 40-37, in a Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division game. Findlay managed just one Kaylee Mangas basket in the first quarter, and trailed Whitmer 8-2 at the first stop. Adalyn Johnson scored 14 points for the Panthers, who led the Trojans 33-25 after three quarters. Findlay made a comeback in the fourth, outscoring Whitmer 12-7 in the stretch, but fell to 10-6, 3-3 in the NLL Buckeye Division. Davinee Harris paced the Trojans with 14 points and eight rebounds. Mangas added six points for Findlay. The Trojans struggled from deep Thursday, making just 2 of 21 3-point attempts. For Whitmer (9-7, 2-4 NLL Buckeye), Madison Finch scored 10 points. The Trojans will play at Springfield Saturday afternoon, in another NLL game. Finch, Osley) WRESTLING FINDLAY --Findlay's boys and girls wrestling teams each hosted Wauseon in an OHSAA team tournament match Thursday, with the Indians winning both. In the girls tournament match, Wauseon edged FHS 38-30, while in the boys match, the Indians won 49-20. Findlay's lone contested win in the girls match came at 190 pounds, when Connelly West topped Wauseon's Jaelynn Hussey, 3-0. All of the Trojans others wins came by forfeit. In the boys match, Findlay 120-pounder Kaliber Brubaker flattened the Indians' Albertoabel Balderas in 2:15. At 150 pounds, the Trojans' Cashel West scored an 11-2 major decision over Kyson Powers. At 285 pounds, Findlay's Parker Nelson pinned Braxton Miller in 25 seconds. At 157 pounds, Findlay's Lincoln Kirian notched a 9-0 major decision over Wauseon's Sam Vazquez. SWIMMING On a night where Findlay's swim teams honored their seniors, the Trojans celebrated in a big way, with each Findlay team winning every contested event. The Findlay boys beat Marion Harding 147-20, and the FHS girls beat the Presidents, 137-34. On the girls side, Findlay senior Anabelle Cislo, the girls lone senior, teamed with Eden Kempf, Sara Kisiborski and Ava Blide to win the 200 medley relay in 2:16.4. Cislo also won the 50 freestyle in 31.39 and the 100 freestyle in 1:09.19. On the boys side, Findlay senior Jake Best won the 200 freestyle (1:50,72), the 100 butterfly (56.67), then was part of two winning relays. Best teamed with Nicholas Kasiborsk, Duncan Black and Dominic Smith in an all-senior 200 freestyle relay, winning in 1:41.69. In the 400 freestyle relay, Best teamed with Stephan Mahler, Kai Borsay and Maddox Debelak, winning in 3:35.48. Black teamed with Mahler, Blaze Schedel, and Jax Dean to claim the 200 medley relay in 1:53.23. Kasiborski finished first in the 50 freestyle (24.58), while Smith won the 1 meter diving with a score of 246.45. BOWLING Findlay's girls bowling team fell to Bowling Green, 2,114-1,914. The Trojans' Rayanna Cap had a 185 high game and a high series of 328. In the boys match, the Bobcats won 2,371-2,157. Findlay's Ryan Litteral had a high game of 216 and a 393 high series.
