Storytimes abound this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering the following programs the week of February 1-7, 2026: Get ready for a great family experience – Storytime is back! We'll meet in the Lindamood Room on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Sing, rhyme, and read, then craft and enjoy activities together with a new theme each week. This program's content is geared to preschool-aged children with a caregiver. Please plan to be engaged and have some fun with your child/children for this program. This week's theme is Hibernation PJ Party. On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, come and get robotic skills with VEX IQ! No experience needed, just curiosity and creativity. You'll solve challenges and learn how to assemble robots with real IQ pieces. This fun and interactive event is designed for children in grades 4-6 and will be taught by active VEX Robotics competitors. This program is part of America 250 - Ohio, celebrating February's theme, Ohio Works: Innovation and Industry. Drop in for Mini Meet-Up on Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. located in our Early Learning Center and play with a selection of the library's toys. Explore new games, toys, and activities that are educational and fun while meeting other families. This program is for children with their caregivers. Starter Storytime returns on Wednesday, February 4 and Friday, February 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. Sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments! This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills and is suggested for children up to 36 months of age with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. Plan to participate and help your child find the confidence to be engaged and have a great time! Arlington Storytime at the Arlington Branch starts on February 4 at 11 a.m. Plan to sing, read, and craft with your little ones. This week will be a Knight and Princess Party! Creative writers - if you're tired of writing alone, come write with other adults! Bring your own work-in-progress or start fresh with one of our prompts. We meet at Coffee Amici in downtown Findlay on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The 50 North Book Discussion will take a look at Fredrik Backman's Beartown this month on Thursday, February 5 at 10 a.m. at 50 North, 339 E. Melrose Avenue. Join us for art, science, and engineering projects in our Makerspace. This month, learn about the "building blocks" of stories (character, setting, plot) by building with LEGO. This program celebrates our Tell-a-Tale Short Story Contest. Learn more about this story writing contest at findlaylibrary.org/content/tell-a-tale. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Makerspace for Homeschoolers is at 2 p.m., and Makerspace is at 6 p.m., with both taking place in the Lindamood Room. On Thursday at 7 p.m., join us for an unforgettable experience as we chat online with Vanessa Riley about her newest book, Fire Sword and Sea, based on the folk story of the female pirate Jacquotte Delahaye.
