Findlay Art League announces Feb. winners

FINDLAY — The Findlay Art League announced the winners of its most recent art show, themed "Spaces That Define Our Lives." An art league webpage said this month's theme asked participants to showcase public or private spaces "that define our lives - whether an intimate corner of a room, the energy of a public space, your studio space, a meaningful building or your personal home." Paul Sears, an attendant of the Art League gallery, said approximately 50 people entered artwork this time but previous shows have had up to 180 participants. The art shows are put on monthly. "It's what we do for the community," Sears said. Anyone can enter artwork into the shows for only $30 for art league members or $40 for non-members. Jennifer Sowders was awarded Best of Show and $300 for her watercolor and acrylic painting, "It Was in Her Nature." A first prize of $200 was given to Marie Smith for "Room With A View." Melissa Eddings-Mancuso was awarded second place of $100 for "Back Door." Ava Ornas received $75 for her third place painting "The Sun." and Nancy Frankenfield and Callasandra Thomas received Awards of Merit. Artwork from this show can be viewed at 117 W. Crawford St., Findlay through February 24 and some are for sale. Next month's show with a deadline of February 27 and 28 will feature work that is no larger than 6x6 or 36 square inches.
