Flechtner scores both FHS goals as Trojans edge St. John's

TOLEDO – Jackson Flechtner scored two goals Thursday – including the game winner – as Findlay's hockey team edged St. John's Jesuit 2-1 at the Huntington Center in Toledo. Flechtner's goal with 9:14 left in regulation, which came off an MJ Greenawalt assist, keyed Findlay win, which improved the Trojans to 15-15-1. FHS will wrap up the regular season tonight at the Cube against Dublin Coffman. Flechtner's goal with 4:13 left in the second period gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Jaron Clark assisted on the score. The lead was short-lived. St. John's Paxton Lewis scored off a Kane Baker assist – with 15 seconds remaining in the period – and the teams went to the third tied, 1-1. Brett Flanagan made 19 saves in goal for the Trojans. Titans' goalie Reid Parton stopped 26 shots. After Friday's game with the Shamrocks, Findlay will get ready for postseason play, which starts for the Trojans Feb. 22 in Bowling Green. The Trojans, the No. 6 seed in the region, will take on the winner of St. John's Jesuit or Troy. Those teams will play Monday at BG. GIRLS BOWLING DIVISION II FOSTORIA SECTIONAL Upper Sandusky's Melanie Bowen bowled a high game of 207, a total score of 536, and finished second overall at the Division II sectional bowling tournament at Bowlero Lanes in Fostoria. Her performance, along with teammate Brynn Routzahn's sixth-place finish, helped the Rams take home the team total with an overall score of 3,232. Liberty-Benton, paced by three bowlers in the top seven, finished second as a team with 3,173. Emma Hertel, who finished with an overall score of 505, and Adrian Cottrell, who registered a 493, took third and fourth, respectively. The Eagles' Abby Woolf finished seventh. The top four teams – and the top three individuals not on a qualifying team – advanced to next Tuesday's district tournament at Interstate Lanes in Rossford. Hopewell-Loudon's Hollie Bozo (435) finished 12th overall and was the area's only individual qualifier. H-L took sixth as a team, while North Baltimore was seventh and Fostoria ninth.
