NORTHERN 57DOLA – Pandora-Gilboa used a huge edge from the foul line to overcome an early deficit and knock off No. 1-seeded Hardin Northern 61-57 in overtime in a Division VII sectional final.P-G was outscored 12-4 in the first quarter and still trailed 47-40 heading into the final period. The Rockets, who converted 31-of-42 free throws in the game, forced overtime by outscoring Hardin Northern 21-10 in the fourth quarter, then won it with a 14-10 edge in the extra period.P-G's big three of Ava Huffman, Savannah Knueven and Kelsie Carlson came through for the Rockets again, combining for 59 of the Rockets' 61 points. Huffman (4 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds) made 14 free throws and led P-G with 26 points. Knueven scored 21 points, Carlson had 12 and both pulled down six rebounds for the Rockets, who move on to face Arlington Wednesday in a district semifinal at Elida. Pandora-Gilboa and Arlington, both 13-10, squared off in a Blanchard Valley Conference clash a month ago, with Arlington coming out on top 47-35.Hardin Northern's Baylie Bacon capped a breakout sophomore season by scoring a game-high 28 points. LEIPSIC 59USV 45LEIPSIC – Leipsic's Kya Brandt had a career day just 15 feet from the basket on Saturday.Brandt, a freshman guard for the Vikings, attempted 22 free throws, made 20 of them and scored 37 points in a 59-45 win over Upper Scioto Valley in a Division VII girls sectional final. According to records on the OHSAA website, Brandt's 20 conversions ties her with 19 other players for 21st place on the all-time list for most free throws made in a game. Kaylee Helton of Lathan Western, a small school in Pike County, set the record with 28 makes in a 2007 game against Portsmouth Clay. Kaylee Hudnail of Albany Alexander meshed 26 free throws in a 2022 game with Nelsonville-York.Rylin Gerten scored nine points and Nora Schroeder added five for Leipsic. BALTIMORE 79 HORIZON SCIENCE 6 NORTH BALTIMORE -- Lacie Allison's regular season included some incredible performances. Now, the North Baltimore sophomore has moved on to showing what she can do in the postseason. Allison registered a triple double, with 39 points, 16 rebounds and 10 steals, and North Baltimore limited Toledo Horizon Science Academy to just a pair of 3-point field goals in a 79-6 win. The Tigers (20-3) led 27-3 at the end of the first quarter. For the game, they were 32 of 66 from the floor, which included a 7 of 13 mark from 3-point range. Kaylee Allison scored nine points, three steals and five assists for North Baltimore, whileSienna Snyder added eight points. Josselyn Paynter had seven rebounds to go with four points. The top-seeded Tigers will take on Cardinal Stritch, the No. 7 seed in the district, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gibsonburg High School.
