Brubaker's runner up finish leads Findlay boys at NLL meet

WRESTLING NLL BOYS NAPOLEON – Kaliber Brubaker finished second on Saturday and Tyler Conder placed third when the Findlay High wrestling team took part in the Northern Lakes League championship meet in Napoleon.Brubaker reached the finals of the 120-pound weight class with a pin and a technical fall win. He lost in the championship match to Perrysburg's Ayden Dodd, who is ranked No. 1 in the state by BOROFANOHIO.net.Gonder lost his semifinal match at 215, but rebounded with two pins in the consolation round. The last was in 4:51 over Perrysburg's Wyatt Musgrove and clinched his third-place finish.Lincoln Kirian rebounded from a second-round loss to win three straight matches and place fourth at 157. Caleb Kanney, with an ultimate tie-breaker win early in the 175-pound competition, also placed fourth.Cameron Trice (165) and Teague Perkins (106) placed fifth for the Trojans, and Alex Mendoza (126) and Cashel West (150) were sixth.Wrestling teams will now switch their focus from league to OHSAA competition. Division I, II and III sectional meets will be held on Saturday, with district tournaments on March 6-7. NLL GIRLSNAPOLEON – Findlay's McKenna Hanes posted a pair of pins in winning the 235-pound weight class championship at the Northern Lakes League girls wrestling tournament on Saturday,Following a first round bye, Hanes pinned Liberty-Benton's Morgan Smith in 56 seconds in their semifinal match. Hanes scored a title-clinching pin in the final, stopping Keyonna Hanes of Fremont Ross in 4:31.Findlay finished second to Fremont Ross in the team standings with a deep lineup scoring considerable second- and third-place points.Sarah Snider (115), Audrey Whitener (135) and Connelly West (170) all placed second in their divisions, while McKenzie Milam (120), Rah'Jai Williams (135), Diego Tisdale (140) and Julia Bollenbacher (190) all finished third.Aaliyah Romero (145) placed fourth in the field, Alexandria Shoop (130) and Kendall Munson (170) were fifth and Ava Deal was sixth.Liberty-Benton, which will be joining the NLL next school year, competed in the girls meet but points earned by the Eagles were not factored into the final standings.Evie Parmelee, a 2025 state qualifier for L-B, won the championship in the 190-pound division by pinning both opponents she faced.L-B doubled up at 155, with Addison Fleck second and Brielle Sorg third. N10 TOURNAMENTATTICA – Carey's Fisher Montgomery, Payne Stoops and Jordan Hertel won individual titles on Saturday and the Blue Devils were third in the team standings of the Northern 10 Conference wrestling tournament.Hertel went 5-0 with four pins, including one in 50 seconds over Cal Geary of Seneca East in the 150-pound championship match. A junior, Hertel also won the 150-pound division in 2025, won the 144-pound title in 2024, and will have a chance next season to be a four-time N10 champion.Stoops needed four wins – three of them by pin – to win the 126-pound division. Stoops pinned Trytan Spencer of Buckeye Central in 1:14 in his final match.The 120-pound final came down to a one-match showdown between Montgomery and Upper Sandusky's Braylon Shepherd, the only two wrestlers in that weight class. Montgomery won that matchup 8-0.Brody Thiel (138), Waylon Hertel (144), Brady Atkins (165) and Kaiden Yingling (215) all placed third for Carey.Mohawk regained its spot atop the N10 Conference wrestling standings, winning its fourth league title in five years by a 210.5 to 161.0 margin over Seneca East. Carey was third (146.0) and Bucyrus fourth (116.0) followed by New Riegel (57.5), Upper Sandusky (47.5) and Buckeye Central (20.0).Upper Sandusky's Ethan Lewis capped a memorable N10 wrestling career by pinning Mohawk's Troy Johnson in 4:13 of the 157-pound championship match. Lewis also won the 157 title in 2025, and placed third in the league tournament in both 2024 (150) and 2023 (144).Malachi Hanks was fourth (138) for Upper. NBC TOURNAMENTMILBURY –Anthony Kleinmark was a league champion and four other Fostoria wrestlers place second in the Northern Buckeye Conference meet held at Lake High School.Kleinmark had a technical fall win and two major decisions in winning the 150-pound NBC title.Huellete North (126), Barrett Hernandez (144), Silas Raney (165) and Cyrus Flor (215) were all second for the Redmen. Ezekiel Sensabaugh (157) finished fourth.Genoa dominated the meet, scoring 237.5 points to outdistance second place Eastwood (140.) by 193.5 points. Fostoria was fifth (101.50.
