Museum hosting talk on 'British Invasion' on American music

FINDLAY — The Hancock Historical Museum will hold a Brown Bag Lecture at noon Thursday. Reginald Routson will present "The Impact of the 'British Invasion' on American Music and Culture." The lecture will explore the phenomenon of Beatlemania and how iconic British bands of the 1960s forever changed the music, culture and spirit of America, including right here in Hancock County. From the unforgettable rise of The Beatles to the broader influence of British rock across the nation, this presentation will spark nostalgia and provide fresh insights into this pivotal cultural shift. Routson served as a judge on the Hancock County Court of Common Pleas from 1998 until his retirement in 2024 and is a musician and lover of 1960s music. His career also included a decade on the Findlay Municipal Court bench, service as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Hancock County, and roles advocating for legal equality and patient rights. He earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from Bowling Green State University and holds a J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law. Routson is a longtime friend of the museum and collaborated with the "Findlay Rocks the 60s" concert and exhibit. The lecture will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, with time for questions and discussion. The museum is proud to serve as a community hub for the America 250 celebrations, honoring 250 years of our nation's history. The 2026 Brown Bag Lecture series is inspired by the celebration themes set forth by the State of Ohio America 250 Commission, connecting local history to larger national narratives. The theme for March is Ohio Entertains: Music & Entertainment. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lunches. Admission is free for museum members and $3 for nonmembers.
