Small Business Series continues this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering the following programs the week of March 8-14, 2026: Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. in the Blanchard Room, teens can come to the library to try out a Meta Quest VR headset. Participants will be checking out virtual travel experiences, games, and more without leaving the library, and then alternate between exploring the virtual world and creating their own pixel-based artwork. Teen VR Afternoon is for teens in grades 6-12. Registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events by clicking on the event for the registration form. Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room, Miss Nicole presents Storytime. Children can join in to sing, rhyme, read, and craft together. The theme for this week is Pizza Party. This program is designed for preschool-aged children. On Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Blanchard Room, it's teen trivia time. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to come to the library and test their Disney knowledge. Get your friends together and join in for a great time! Registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events. The Small Business Development Center's Small Business Series continues on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. This series covers essential topics including entrepreneurial readiness, business planning, launching and legally establishing your business, marketing and social media strategies, financial fundamentals, profitability analysis, and acquiring capital while managing risk. This event will be held in person at The Borra Center for Health Sciences at Rhodes State College, but sessions will be simulcast live to the library. Registration is required through Rhodes State by calling 419-995-8032. This program is presented by the Ohio Small Business Development Center. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the Early Literacy Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. Starter Storytime will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and Friday in the Lindamood Room. Miss Nicole will lead families in singing, rhyming, reading and having fun with scarves and bells. This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills and is suggested for children up to 36 months of age with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. Storytime at Arlington is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at our Arlington Branch. Children can hear great stories, do crafts and fun activities. This week's theme is Winter to Spring Storytime with the Hancock Park District. Adult Book Bingo is slated for 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the Lindamood Room. This month, we'll be featuring book prizes based on past CommunityREAD titles. Bring a friend or family member to have a good time and play bingo for book prizes. At 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lindamood Room, we're having an adult cooking program based on the foods from our CommunityREAD title, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio by Terry Ryan. Register at findlaylibrary.org/events to join in to learn to make, and sample different recipes from the book. Join our sci-fi and fantasy book club on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office. This month you choose your own Goosebumps book! Copies of Goosebumps titles are available in the Information Services Department. Spring is on its way soon, so let's celebrate by learning all about growing plants at Family Night: How Does Your Garden Grow on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. We'll examine seeds, learn how to grow plants at home, and decorate a flowerpot. Registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Thursday at 7 p.m., join in virtually for a conversation with Kate Wuinn as she discusses her book, The Astral Library, where books are not just objects, but doors to new worlds, new lives, and new futures.
