L-B's 3,200 relay team among area winners at indoor state track meet

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD GENEVA – Liberty-Benton's 3,200-meter relay team brought home one state title and Van Buren's Easton Wymer and Riverdale's Brody Berger were individual champions as well at the 2026 Ohio Track and Cross Country Coaches Division III indoor state track meet held at the SPIRE Institute.L-B's foursome of Lane Fannin, Aiden Lee, Hudson Day and Jackson Hochstettler posted a first place time of 8:03.49 in winning the event. That time and placing qualified them to compete in the New Balance National indoor meet being held this week in Boston.Lee also placed third in the boys 3,200 (9:37.36) and Hochstettler was sixth in the 800 (1:58.03). For L-B's girls, Josie Hochstettler was third (11-0) and Saiphone Kaedaeng fifth (10-6) in the pole vault.Wymer and Berger placed first in the girls and boys weight throws. Wymer's winning throw was 44-6 ¾. Berger won with a throw of 74-½.Riverdale's Marissa Bonham had a successful day, placing second in the girls long jump (16-11) and third in the 400-meter run (58.73). Ottawa-Glandorf's Deegan Miller was second in the boys 60-yard dash (6.97) and third in the 200 (21.94).Columbus Grove doubled up in the boys high jump, with Preston Ellerbrock placing second (6-5) and Jarrod Holland fourth (6-4). Grove''s Bree Closson was third in the girls 60 hurdles (9.59). McComb's Carter Frater was second (21-10½) in the long jump and North Baltimore's Attlee Rowlinson was third in the girls triple jump (29-2¾).Ottawa-Glandorf's girls were fourth in both the 1,600 (4:14.91) and 3,200 (10:25.00) relays. WRESTLING FINDLAY – Findlay High's Julia Bollenbacher posted a 3-2 record in the girls district wrestling meet at Findlay High on Sunday, and in the process set a school record for career wins.Bollenbacher, competing in the 190-pound weight class, dropped her opening match in the tournament, but then rattled off three straight wins before falling in the consolation final for fifth and sixth place. Her three wins upped her career total to a school-record total of 101.Audrey Whitener was Findlay's lone state qualifier from the district meet. She went 4-2 in placing fourth at 135.Dhani McCray (155) and McKenna Hanes (235) both posted 2-2 records. Sarah Snyder (115) went 1-2. SWIMMING BOWLING GREEN – Tillie Abbott set two meet records in leading the Findlay YMCA swim team to a third place finish in the Northwest Ohio Y League championship meet held in Bowling Green over the weekend.Abbott a two-time freestyle state qualifier for Findlay High, had a winning time of 52.16 seconds in the 100-meter free, beating the mark of 53.36 set by Abbi Terveer in 2001. Abbott also won the 200 free in 1:55.81 in breaking the record held by Morgan Brebberman since 2012.Abbott made it a sweep of the freestyle events by also winning the 50 (24.55) and 500 (5:25.94).Tori Lewis, competing in the girls 11-12 age division, posted a record time of 2:21.78 in the 200 IM, and added firsts in the 100 free (57.400), 50 fly (29.71), 50 (29.41) and 100 (1:04.08) backstroke, 200 free (2:04.52) and 200 IM (2:21.78).Findlay also got a record time in the boys 15-over 400 medley relay with Maddox Debelak, Nicholas Kasiborski, Duncan Black and Stephan Mahler winning the event in 3:55.13.In the girls 11-12 division, Norah Halm was first in the 50 free (26.85), 50 (34.82) and 100 (1:15.51) breaststroke and 100 IM (1:08.16) and swam a leg on the winning 200 free relay with Addilyn Pelton, Lucy Abbott and Lottie Stine (1:54.29).In the boys 8-under division, Jack Zerr of the Findlay Frogs won the 100 IM (1:312.38), 25 free (16.47), 25 butterfly (18.11), 50 free (36.80), and 25 backstroke (20.13) .The Lima YMCA won the team title with 3,656.5 points. Fort Meigs was a close second (3,633) with Findlay third (2,812) in the 18-team field.
