The Lima Symphony Orchestra and CommunityREAD this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has some wonderful programs available the week of March 15-21, 2026: Start your week off right with The Lima Symphony Orchestra on Monday in the Lindamood Room at 10:30 a.m. when they present Symphony Storytime, a unique and hands-on musical experience for children and families. Members of the Lima Symphony Orchestra will share stories accompanied by a musical performance, with lots of opportunities for attendees to join in the fun! This program is a part of the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation's 'Fun-For-All' events. Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room will be a special YouthREAD Let's Play Pretend Storytime! What animal will you be? Do you want to be a firefighter? An actress? A race car driver? Join us as we explore playing pretend and using our imaginations. Our YouthREAD book choice for preschoolers, Dress Up Day by Blanca Gómez will be featured, a special craft and themed activities, too! This program is part of our 2026 CommunityREAD series. Can't make it during the week? Join us Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lindamood Room for Let's Play Pretend Storytime with a special guest from the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. This program's content is geared to preschool-aged children with a caregiver. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program. Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, teens can join Maze Craze. Design and build your own marble maze! All materials will be provided. This program is designed for teens in grades 6 – 12. Join in for part 3 of our 6-week, no-cost Small Business Academy designed to guide entrepreneurs from idea to profitability. We'll meet on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. This series is for adults, and covers essential topics including entrepreneurial readiness, business planning, launching and legally establishing your business, marketing and social media strategies, financial fundamentals, profitability analysis, and acquiring capital while managing risk. The event will be simulcast live to the library from The Borra Center for Health Sciences at Rhodes State College, and is presented by the Ohio Small Business Development Center. Registration required through Rhodes State College by calling 419-995-8032. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the Early Literacy Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. Join the library for Starter Storytime at the library on Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. Sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments! This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills and is suggested for children up to 36 months of age with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. This program's content is geared to children ages birth - 36 months with a caregiver. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program. Storytime at Arlington is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at our Arlington Branch. Children can hear great stories, do crafts and fun activities. This week's theme is Let's Play Pretend. On Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office, the Thrills & Chills Book Discussion will take a look at Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chien. On Thursday at 12 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, grab your lunch and your sense of adventure, this month, Passport Picnic is off to Columbia! Join the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library for a monthly midday journey that brings the world to your table. Each session explores a different country through vibrant and engaging presentations that highlight its culture, traditions, cuisine, and everyday life. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or simply curious about the world, Passport Picnic offers a refreshing and fun way to explore, no passport required! Do you have a craft work in progress sitting around waiting to be finished and want to spend time with other creative people? Be a part of our monthly craft circle where all crafts are welcome on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office. Our signature event, CommunityREAD, takes place on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Winebrenner Auditorium at the University of Findlay. The feature event will be a discussion with Dr. Cortland Rankin, of the Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University. He will be discussing the book and the Rust Belt, and Ohio in film. Then, at 7 p.m. there will be a presentation of the movie based on the book, starring Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson. Tickets are not required this year, as this is a free public event. Perimenopause doesn't have to be confusing, or something you navigate alone! Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, we are excited to present a screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause | Perimenopause to Findlay. This documentary gives language to what so many women are experiencing during perimenopause. It is a validating and empowering film meant not only for women but also for partners and friends who want to understand and support. Following the screening of the documentary there will be a guided discussion led by Peggy Dillon, MSW, LSW of Hot Yoga Findlay and Dr. Brittany Haidet, PT, DPT of She Blooms Physical Therapy.
